Hey ! I havnt used pumice but I do make a scrubby soap with ground lufa

for feet and can use on dirty hands as well. I probably put maybe half cup

per pound soap. Depends on how scrubby I want it. You may need to do a

test bar to see how much pumice you want in it. But that might be a good

start. You can always melt it down again and add more if its not euf. BTW

no shelf life on the pumice since its stone.

Shaye-recipe question for you

Hi Shaye

Have you ever made any kind of M & P soaps for " gardeners " ? I had a

request this weekend to make a woman (3) bars of soap to help remove

dirt from her " gardening " hands, like maybe with ground pumice. I know

I made some years ago but for the life of me can't find the recipe. I

have Extra Fine Pumice and Apricot Kernal Grains on hand. I've had them

for years but I doubt that there's any shelf life on that stuff. I also

don't remember how much I would use in, say, a 4-5 oz bar of M & P. I was

considering using Goatsmilk M & P and maybe some added oil like Jojoba or

Sweet Almond Oil.

Do you have any suggestions? I didn't want to spend a lot of time

researching for recipes because I have other orders I need to work on.

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi :

I make a MP Gardener's Soap that sells quite well for me. I use a blend of

oatmeal, aloe and olive oil and then add cornmeal for texture. I use herbal FOs

like rosemary, mint, basil, etc. whatever " feels good " that particular day.

Have fun!

Something like poppy seeds is nice in it, as well, about 1 T./lb. Did you

really mean 1/2 c. of pumice, Shaye? I would never have thought to try that

much. I do also add a bit of ground oatmeal.

, I'm not Shaye and I don't play her on TV but here's a bit of info on

gardener's soap. The www.soapnuts.com recipe nook has a great recipe for M

& P gardener's using pumice and/or coffee and cornmeal. Sounds like a nice

bar of soap.

Well this is really scrubby for feet actually and I think hands can handle

it as well. If it was for the body then no way. She can also start light

and add more if its not enuf.

Also, and im sure someone will say if im wrong but poppy seeds are much

harder than ground lufa and more scratchy so If I were putting poppy seeds

in, I would not use that much.

I've never had the pleasure of using ground loofah, although it sounds nice,

but no, don't use too many poppy seeds. IMO, they're a nice exfoliator

since they're smooth spheres, and so small, but I think too many would be

harsh.
