Guest guest
Hi Everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday! I met with the Surgeon, Dr. Francis , at Brigham and Womens Hospital last week and have scheduled my right adrenalectomy for Feb 10. I asked him many of the questions you all had told me to ask and he had some very informative answers. He said that he does about 25 of these surgeries a year and sees more people in need of right adrenalectomies than left. He also said that he has never had a patient come back with a second tumor in the other adrenal. He also said that 1 in 10 times he has to change from a laproscopic approach to a full cut you open surgery. One thing that interested me was his suggestion that I stay on the Toprol 12.5mg. He said that if I wasn't on it now he would put me on it for up to 5 months after my surgery. He said that your heart needs to rest after having such high pressures for so long. It helps with the adjustment to lower bp. Is this because of the baroreceptor reflex Dr. Grim?? I have noticed that my pulse has been up lately... around 75-85... when it is normally in the 60's. Especially when I have a cocktail! I think it goes up into the 90's maybe even 100s. Is this normal? I have also been weaning off the beta blocker per my Endo. Down from 25 mg three weeks ago. I have also been having LOTS of upper eyelid twitching! Is this from stress?? Thanks for you help!
