Did you present them with the published data that that dose is ineffective in most PAs of any type? I would be happy as on outside consultant to write a letter. I might also be able to get one of the drug companies here to provide it for say 2-months as a trial. Have you contacted the Glascow MRC HTN group? It has minimal effect at that dose level. I've asked about being able to take a higher dose but the answer was "no". Even went to my MP and MSP. Answer still "no". Guest guest Posted May 17, 2006 Report Share Posted May 17, 2006 Helen, sorry to hear that eplerenone is not working for you. I t has been the opposite for me. After 8 years of spiro not working for me and having loads of side effects, I was switched last year to inspra (initially 25mg which had little or no effect) and then recently to 50 mg a day. The effect on my bp has shown a marked reduction to around 114/71. I am still on loads of other medication too (lisinopril, amiloride, amlodopine and IBS medication together with cholesterol meds) and still feel rough every day, but BP seems OK.. I will try to email him. This is not good patient care. I also know the nurse who is the head of the Hypertension Nurses Associatoin in England. Does your nurse belong to this group?
