Guest guest
Hello to all! I've been a member of the Torticollis group for a while, but now I think it's time (or more accurately, past time) to address my daughter's Plagio issues. I'm not satisfied with what her doctor is telling me, so I'm open to any and all advice. Here's our story.... My daughter (Katrina - now 7 1/2 mos.) was breech, delivered by c-section, and has had a crooked head since day 1. We've been told all along it would round out. We noticed a lump on her neck around 1 mo. and it was diagnosed as tort. We were told to do stretches at home, and given a referral to PT at her 2 mo. apt. Both the PT and Dr. said it was a mild case that should correct by 6 mo. (We're still working on it.) At both her 3 mo. and 6 mo. I asked the Dr. about the shape of her head. He said it was normal for babies to have crooked heads. I was more insistent about doing something at 6 mo., but the Dr. said that we should wait until 1 yr. and then proceed if it's still crooked. Isn't that too long to wait? Katrina's head has a ridge along the top left side, running front to back, it is a bit flat on the left behind her ear, and her right cheek is more prominent. We have been repositioning her all along, putting her to sleep on her right side and I've tried various wedges, but she's always managed to wiggle herself into a position that she could turn her head to the left. She's just recently begun to roll about, and now chooses to sleep on her tummy with her head still turned to the left... at least the pressure is on the OTHER side of her face now. How successful is repositioning? What should I say to/insist from/tell her doctor? Thanks for reading this far. It's so hard to keep these things " brief " .
