Helen~ This sounds similar to Graces situation when we first got her helmet. We went back up to the orthotist after a few days and he shaved some off of the front so that she could see better. Yes they do want as much coverage on the forehead as possible but it should not be going down over her eyes. It drove me nuts and I knew that was not right so I was happy when I got advice from the site to go and see about the adjustment with the shaving. Once he took a little off it was smooth sailing. As far as taking it off Grace never has been able to get hers off but she wasn't quite 4 months when she first started wearing it and is only 6 months. How old is your daughter? and Grace

Helen~ That is so great it makes such a difference doesn't it! I never even thought about shaving any off until people on the site mentioned it. Grace has been in her helmet now for almost three months and time has flown by. The orthotist said another two weeks 23 hours a day and then we can go a month with her wearing it just at night and then it should be ok to set her little head free. Scary! I feel so much safer knowing she has that helmet on. I can just see her at 18 with her helmet asking if she can please finally take it off! How long will your little girl have to wear the helmet? Is her plagio mild/moderate/severe?? and Grace

,

Thanks for replying. is 6 months old. We

did go back and see our orthodist yesterday. He

shaved a little in front and by one of the ears. He

also put a little piece of padding by the ears and in

the back. It seems to be staying on much better now.

How long has your daughter been wearing her helmet?

Helen,

It should have some looseness, but if your daughter is able to take it off,

then it may be too loose. The helmet should come down to about the eyebrows,

but not slip over the eyes.

Let us know how it goes with the ortho.
