Guest guest Posted June 25, 2011 Report Share Posted June 25, 2011 I made this at a home party the other day, but I added half-n-half before the ice and it came out just like ice cream!Keep in mind the "rule of thumb" for making ice cream and you can turn anything into ice cream (practically) 1 cup non-frozen to 3 cups frozen.I added the half-n-half to the 1 cup line and ice cubes to the 4 cup line (considering the cubes were big and accounting for air pockets). With a dash of vanilla. Cinnamon as suggested would go GREAT with almond/pecan (IMO). I made the nut ice cream with honey roasted peanut butter at the party. Speaking of nut butter, Carol at Norwalk told me a few weeks ago that one of their recent buyers in Hawaii sent them 10 lbs. of fresh macadamia nuts to play with for butter on the condition they provide details about the procedure and results. It seems they own a farm and didn't have time to play with the notion themselves. I spent the afternoon reading all the literature, then I made a smoothie with grape tomatoes, cucumber, green onion, and banana. LOL, it wasn't the best combo, but I am very happy with my new VM. I couldn't tell if it was going to be a sweet or savory smoothie :-) But Serena for experimenting and jumping right in to use your new baby!I have a page on Green Smoothies on my website it is good to stick to the "Magic Veggies" (or greens only - not including cilantro) with fruit based drinks at least in the beginning.Savory = things like blended salads, V8 type imitations, cold soups, etc. (mostly unsweet). For savory recipes, for the most part, I'd keeps the fruits out. I have a good "cold green soup" recipe on my website - if you try it, I'd love it if you let me know what you think of it...
