After posted this a while back I roasted my own almonds and pecans and made it - it was indeed "sublime"!

Also, browse the archives and use recipes from the recipe book or from here until you're comfortable with your new "baby" and pay special attention to the order in which the ingredients are placed in the container. If you take the extra hour or so to do this, you'll have no problems adjusting to the Vitamix's power; you'd be surprised how new users become intimidated when they realize what the "on" switch unleashes! You also won't be tripping the overload protection or turning stuff to mush that you want to leave chunky.

I made this at a home party the other day, but I added half-n-half before the ice and it came out just like ice cream!Keep in mind the "rule of thumb" for making ice cream and you can turn anything into ice cream (practically) 1 cup non-frozen to 3 cups frozen.I added the half-n-half to the 1 cup line and ice cubes to the 4 cup line (considering the cubes were big and accounting for air pockets). With a dash of vanilla. Cinnamon as suggested would go GREAT with almond/pecan (IMO). I made the nut ice cream with honey roasted peanut butter at the party.

I'm a big fan of cashew butter (when I get a hankerin' for nut butter, which isn't often), but this was right up there and the fact that it was warm...well...'nuff said.

Speaking of nut butter, Carol at Norwalk told me a few weeks ago that one of their recent buyers in Hawaii sent them 10 lbs. of fresh macadamia nuts to play with for butter on the condition they provide details about the procedure and results. It seems they own a farm and didn't have time to play with the notion themselves. Carol said that everyone at work went home with a jar of butter and that it was unbelievable.

Thanks, Heidi-Beth! And I'm sure that after I've tried it out for 6 months, I'll

be enthusiastic like you are. :o)

As for the wait, luckily (or not, depending on how you look at it) I have tons

of distractions to keep me busy while I wait.

Thanks! I spent the afternoon reading all the literature, then I made a smoothie

with grape tomatoes, cucumber, green onion, and banana. LOL, it wasn't the best

combo, but I am very happy with my new VM.

Good for you. I suspect you were on the right track until that banana... :) (There's nothing wrong with a savory green smoothie!)

If you haven't already, get familiar with Lea Ann's Web page and her "magic veggies." And play with some tried-and-true recipes for starters--it's a good way to get familiar with your new baby. :)

…or the green onion. I couldn't tell if it was going to be a sweet or savory smoothie :-) But Serena for experimenting and jumping right in to use your new baby!I have a page on Green Smoothies on my website it is good to stick to the "Magic Veggies" (or greens only - not including cilantro) with fruit based drinks at least in the beginning.Savory = things like blended salads, V8 type imitations, cold soups, etc. (mostly unsweet). For savory recipes, for the most part, I'd keeps the fruits out. I have a good "cold green soup" recipe on my website - if you try it, I'd love it if you let me know what you think of it...

YOU GO GIRL! Playing with and coming up with ideas is the most fun part of it all.Sometimes the very best things come from experiments that didn't work so well and had to be doctored. It might turn out to be a totally different thing then you had in mindKImFrom: aurora.supernova <aurora.supernova@...>Subject: Re: I've Waited Six Years for This... WOOT!
