Guest guest
Andrine, I just add a small amount of dilluted pure honey to my soaps. Whereas the soap is a bit sticky, it does help in holding the bar (no slippage) and the honey washes off your skin rather easily. W.

I do add honey to my soaps. It's the honey " tincture " that I was trying to find a use for, after my failed attempt with it, tincture & perfumewise. I love honey in my soaps! I don't even dilute it. I just add it at the trace with my nutrient oils and EOs. Cheers! Andrine
Guest guest
Yes! Ooooh, that's on my list to try!! I have Y.S. Organic Honey on the way. I got a jar of regular (appears to be solid), a jar of Manuka (tea tree flowers) and a jar of Buckwheat. I am excited for that box to arrive. I'll try the weebee next (thanks for the heads-up that it is good!), but that will be a few weeks before I can order something else. LOL. My BF thinks I have too much honey here now as it is!! I tell him, they are all different! Guest guest
I've been eating Really Raw Honey and I just love it. Completely unheated, unfiltered, unstrained, pesticide-free. Contains pollen, propolis, and bits of besswax. Considerably less expensive than WeeBee Honey. http://www.reallyrawhoney.com/ Has anyone tried RRH along WeeBee or other brands? How do they conpare? Guest guest
That's true. I misread the page. But Really Raw Honey is cheaper when you buy the 2 lb. 10 oz. size. And is still cheaper when you buy a case. Also RRH offers free shipping. But what RRH has that I have not been able to find elsewhere is fermented honey. It is terrific! (And even a little less expensive than the regular variety). > From: Cody <lecody2001@...> > Reply- " " < > > Date: Tue, 14 Apr 2009 05:43:05 -0700 (PDT) > " " < > > Subject: Re: Honey > > They seem to be about the same price... Guest guest
I wasn't fond of the granulated texture of Really Raw brand. I thought it might get creamier once past all the cappings, but no, it's granulated all through it. I prefer a creamy texture. [From the TT site: " Tropical Traditions Organic Raw Honey has not been subjected to the heat of processing, only warmed enough to flow (same temperatures the honey would see inside the hive). We select only premium honey that is pure, smooth and creamy, with the consistency of soft margarine at harvest. It contains live yeast and enzymes, because it has not been processed. It also contains pollen because it has not been filtered—merely screened. " oh, and it's certified organic, due to being in the frontier of Canada-- too far away from anything bad the bees could get into. They often run BOGO sales on the TT site, too.] Thia On Tue, Apr 14, 2009 at 7:56 AM, Grace Horowitz <grace@...>wrote: > > > I've been eating Really Raw Honey and I just love it. Guest guest
Hi Docs, Is there anyone out there who knows of reactions to cinnamon? I'm asking because I gave some stewed peaches with cinnamon to my 2 1/2 year old and he was red around his lips for at lease 30 minutes afterward. He's had peaches before, but not the amount of cinnamon I had put in the peaches. However, I did see the exact same reaction on my friend's one year old when she fed her hot cereal with cinnamon. Coincidence? or can this be a somewhat typical reaction. Guest guest
Cinnamon is a warming herb ...... maybe the kid didn't need any sympathetic stimulus .... maybe the amount was too much for the size ..... but one of the major properties of cinnamon IS to warm and increase circulation .... that is what the reactions sound like to me. Guest guest
Hi ,Not at all uncommon. Most ground cinnamon is actually cassia so he could be reacting to that. I would swab a little on his arm and see if he reacts again. If so, you know to avoid it. Guest guest
I don't see honey listed as an ingredient in too many recipes. Is there a reason, besides trying to save calories?
Guest guest
LOL to my way of thinking, honey is one of the three basic food groups...the other two being olive oil and balsamic. I LOVE good honey and am always on the lookout for unprocessed, single varietals. So many honeys, so little time (and money--many of them don't come cheap)! I'd also venture a guess that in addition to Lea Ann's very plausible theory, honey is a little harder to work with. It's probably best to thin it first when working with cold things like smoothies and it's going to give very different results from sugar if subbed in baking. Maple syrup and agave are easier for cold, blended recipes if those flavors appeal to you. -----Original Message----- From: Lea Ann Savage <lsavage@...> My guess is that Agave has become the "darling" honey substitute (that is most certainly the case if you're looking at raw food recipes). And then of course there IS the calorie/glycemic issue. On Jun 13, 2011, at 12:40 PM, flnancy1958 wrote: I don't see honey listed as an ingredient in too many recipes.
