Guest guest
thanks for your opinion. I'm glad it was brought to my attention. Just knowing the author plans to " kill God " makes me definitely not want to pay the man money in order to decide if I care for the movie or not. I suppose I'm concerned about " subliminal messages " . Di An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. Guest guest
From what I read, the movie itself has been watered down a bit and is probably not all the objectionable, but the books that the movie was based on may be. I don't think the information is being passed around as a " don't see the movie " , but rather I think many people are worried that families will see the movie, think " this was good for kids " and then buy the books and find out that they are have an anti-Christian message. Certainly the book's author makes no mistake about his position from the direct quote he has made to numerous publications.... it's not an opinion as to what he's saying.... the author tells us what he's trying to convey to his readers (primarily children.) I know that as much as I pay attention to what my kids read, had we seen a movie and thought it was OK, I doubt if I'd necessarily preview the book the movie was based on, which in this case, would be a mistake. For example, we saw The Bee Movie this weekend, and now 's reading the Junior Novel of this movie.... I don't feel I need to read it first :-) Sounds like for Golden Compass, parents should take a peek into the literature if they are going to follow up the movie with books. I'm glad that this was brought up as a topic of interest, and I think that it's great that we have a way to make informed parental decisions :-) , mom to (12), (9 DS), and Sammy (8) PS. I saw the previews this weekend, and it looked like a Narnia copycat, except a bit more violent and/or scary. But then again, who knows from the previews! Guest guest
<<< I saw the previews this weekend, and it looked like a Narnia copycat, except a bit more violent and/or scary>>> Now THAT is the scary part. Parents are not informing themselves.. their kids want to see a movie that they say is like Narnia.. parents have even seen previews that show it's like Narnia.... and they don't realize what the movie is really about.. watered down or not.. it IS an anti Christ movie. The subtle messages are there. I had gotten this link before and I studied it carefully and I am so grateful that I did. I have shared it with my family and friends. I'm glad that someone decided to share this with those on the list who might not have been aware and just assume that it's an OK movie. Now, there is no excuse.. they can check it out and decide for themselves. And if they don't want to.. they can just delete the email, right? Thanks for sharing. Guest guest
and Others, Food for thought - have you ever given consideration that this email warning may be a Marketing strategy, to get you curious to go and see what the fuss is about. Has the movie been released anywhere as yet? If not, who is that knowledgable about the moive (not the book) to be so concerned. I am always suspicious of email warnings and feel they are not as innocent as they may appear. On the other hand, I have seen the preview several times, Trent is an avid Moive goer, the previews do nothing for me - it does seem a dark/scary movie and possibly something that doesn't appeal. That fact that Kidman is in it does even less for me, but they are probably hoping that her presence will have a greater pulling power. If that is the case it certainly didn't work on my part. I would have been in the dark and may or may not have taken my kids to see the movie based on the reviews. Now I will be sure not to go. Guest guest
since I checked it out on snopes I believe it's true besides, the interviews aren't made up. I would think it would be risky for the company to try reverse psychology. Di An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.
