Guest guest
Hi All, What type of aerobic activities does everyone do? I like variety and am just not sure what will fit in with the HIIT plan other than the walk/run thing. I do that or change it up with a stairstepper/exercycle bike routine. I have a 3 year old so I can't always do the walk/run. Any suggestions would be helpful! Thanks, Sheila
Guest guest
Hi Sheila! I have been doing BFL lifestyle for 18 months and I am pleased with my success. Take whatever helps from my box of ideas! I must say I get a bit bored doing the cardio so I have thought up the following ideas to get thru it easier: I work out for a set time when I do a run on the treadmill(I work out 40 mins not Bills 20 mins and I don't overdo it, I can talk but not easily)I do a 5 min walk to warm up then gradually build up the tempo,I switch the incline level at certain minutes or drop speed then add speed, when I have finished a whole minute. Its never the same, I do whatever grabs me, as long as I keep " the pump " . I had a great afternoon one day entertaining my neighbours kids tryong out all kinds of skipping routines. WHAT A KILLER!! Chasing a three year old is a good workout any day too. Just take to the park and let loose! hehehe I jog outdoors and take a skipping rope along and do on the spot skipping (for the heavy duty cardio) Inline skating behind a buggy - I see alot of women do that here. I have alternated swimming (breast stroke fast) with back stroke slow) I think Sheila the bottom line is to incorporate something in your cardio so it won't get stale and you will enjoy it and not see it as a task. I set myself goals like : try and do so many miles-meters in so many minutes, see how long I can last at a certain speed ect. Good luck! Guest guest
<<If it wasn't for my MP3 player I could not do this. Thank you SONY!!! lol.>> Yeah, no kidding! I left without my walkman one day and it was so depressing! Music makes it go by so much faster, and nicer!

Sounds like you had good progress with your first challenge, so I'm sure this one will be just as rewarding. And I think we all know how easy it is to slip one day and then two and then three and suddenly that scale jumps up higher than we want it <G> Colleen
Guest guest
Right now I'm not doing the BFL 20 min thing, I teach Aqua Aerobics 3 days a week twice on Mon. and Wed. and then a 2 hour dance class on Mon Wed. also,,,LOL. So my mon/wed. schedule for workouts is 7am-7:50am Aqua Aerobics, 5:30pm-6:45pm Aqua Aerobics, 7pm-9pm Dance class. So I'm gettin' aerobics aplenty nowadays!!!,,,,(don't try this at home,,,,hehe). But " off-semester " ??? My absolute FAVE is the stairmaster. For me (though not all people) it's VERY easy on my poor old knees. As an alternative I do the elliptical. For one thing, I like their little " displays " that exactly time your minutes and your " levels, " although on my gym's ellipticals the timing isn't exactly one minute, so you kinda have to screw around with the setup and usually to get one minute per level you have to have a 26 min long workout,,,but OH well, cardio is my fave anyway. LOL.

Guest guest
I have problems with running (my knee doesn't like it at all) and generally do the aerobic thing on the rowing machine at the gym, it seems to be about the most under-utilized piece of equipment there for some reason, but (perhaps because I was a rower when I was at High School) I love it! It's easy to do the differerent levels by setting yourself different stroke rates or cal/hour goals (I move between 450 and 1000). The other reason I go for it is because of some obscure bit of info that I was told in science class when I was 16 - we were looking at energy expediture in different sports, and rowing topped the list, but when it comes down to it I have no idea how they worked that out - I presume it was average amount of energy expended per minute while participating in various sports...anyway - it makes you sweat, doesn't jar your joints, and gives you muscles. When I was rowing as a teenager and someone told me girls couldn't do chin-ups I tried and found I could do 3, over 15 years later after 12 weeks of the BFL program I found I could do them again!! My goal after this challenge is to be able to do 5, a lot of guys might find it amusing, but I'm sure all of you understand how this particular goal is quite difficult for us grls. cheers, jo > Hi All, > > What type of aerobic activities does everyone do?
