belle had her surgery for duodenal stenosis, they discovered when they

were in there that she had an " annular Pancreas. " I don't know if this is

something that is typical of Downs kids and it's all just lumped under duodenal

atresia/stenosis. They were able to do it laproscopically, so the recovery

was a lot easier. She actually pooped on the 2nd day out of surgery! Before

I had kids I never knew I'd be doing the happy dance over poop! (Woohoo! It's

your birthday, you're a rock star!)

We got out of the hospital on Thursday. Now I'm getting her on the nursing

track. Lordy but it's a pain in the nipples to have to pump and schlepp the

pump everywhere. Truckers on local freeways have gotten some really odd

sights lately now that I have the power adapter for the car. She's actually

latching on and then wondering what the heck that thing is in her mouth, then

sucking a little and spitting it out. Wish us luck.

We also got word on Friday that we're being transferred to Virginia, so East

Coast, here we come! As soon as I know exactly where we're heading

(Quantico, Chantilly or Arlington) I'll tap y'alls brains for resources out

there.

Thanks to all who sent their encouragement and information about this. I

really appreciate this group and have cited you as a huge part of my support

network -- knowing I can ask REAL PARENTS (not the " experts) questions is huge!

Eveyln,

That's great news to hear she is doing so well! And that they

were able to do it laproscopically is awesome, too! When KC

had her surgery, she ended up with a 5 inch scar across her

belly. I know exactly what you mean about the poop thing too...

we are constantly doing the " poop dance " here when there is

success in that department! LOL!!

Good luck on nursing, as well as your move. And, Yeah belle!

mom to KC-5 (DS), -4, Baby -1
