Here are two methods for getting it bright and clean. FREEZE some ice cubes of lemon and baking soda (blend it up in a pitcher then pour into ice trays) Buzz those frozen cubes up, then add a drop of dish liquid (I personally NEVER use commercial dish liquid-I use Miracle II soap, if needed) You can also drop an effervescent denture cleaner tablet in the pitcher when it is full of hot water-let it fizz, buzz it up and rinse well-minty fresh, lol! From: Terry Pogue <tpogue@...>Subject: cleaning the vitamix"Vitamix" < >Date: Thursday, June 2, 2011,

I just called Vitamix and ordered the smaller wet container and while there I asked how to clean it so it remains sparkly clean. She transferred me to customer help. They said baking soda, detergent mix to scrub it out. I then asked how often one had to do it. She suggested once a week. Now I'm wondered if my large container will come clean. And I've got to see if I can reach all the way to the bottom of that tall container to get it clean. I just hate that dingy look.

Terry, I do hope you mentioned Lea Ann's code when you ordered? If so, you would get the free shipping and discount. If not, perhaps it is not too late to call back? From: Terry Pogue <tpogue@...>Subject: cleaning the vitamix"Vitamix" < >Date: Thursday, June 2, 2011,

I make a baking soda paste on a white paper towel (I dip the paper towel into water, then into the baking soda) and scrub with my fingers (the paper towel and baking soda are between my fingers and the inside of the container). You will be amazed at how much brown/black icky film comes off onto the white paper towel (which you can see through the plastic container). I keep scrubbing/wiping until the paper towel dipped in wet backing soda remains white and no longer picks up the ucky film…

I must not have the same kind as you .. unless I am missing something

I can clean mine very easily.. first using the hot water w dish detergent and

follow it up with a long handled bottle brush..and more hot water spin

My container is also wider then the previous model so i may be able to get

down into it. But I bought a couple size bottle brushes till I found the best

one.. even have one that has some sm sponges at the very end along with the

brushes, to get down into the crevices.

I have access to buy bottle brushes from Acklands Grainger but there are soooo many different diameters of brushes. What diameter works best for cleaning the VM? Don't really want to spend $8-$10 each just to try to find the best oneThanks,....Dennis> > From: crenita@...> Date: Thu, 10 May 2012 13:04:26 +0000> Subject: Re: cleaning the vitamix> > I must not have the same kind as you .. unless I am missing something> I can clean mine very easily.. first using the hot water w dish detergent and follow it up with a long handled bottle brush..and more hot water spin> My container is also wider then the previous model so i may be able to get down into it. I use an electric toothbrush (Walmart, 5 bucks-I think it is called a spin brush) Works a charm for getting the container deep cleaned, but I find if I rinse the container IMMEDIATELY after using it, it rarely needs any deep cleaning. I just throw in a pinch of baking soda and hot water, give it a buzz and a rinse. Sent from my iPadOn May 10, 2012, at 11:37 PM, <dgulenchin@...> wrote:

I agree I think NOT letting it sit and to clean it asap makes a huge

difference.. I picked up a 2 pack of bottle brushes at Walmart . like for $2.00

one is more rounded on the bottom the other longer.. Cleans any little residual

usually from my Flax seeds.. that stick to the sides.. but buzzing it around

with deteregent or baking soda finishes off nicely.
