Guest guest
Sorry for the long delay in updating all about the solar oven order. I am hoping there will be availability very soon. Keep in mind these are made by a humanitarian company, and they donate to places that need them in the wake of disaster...sadly, there has been so much of that lately that there haven't been any available for sale. I am told that there will be a window of opportunity this coming week where we can place our order, so I will email those of you on the list and let you know when they are ready to ship. No need to pay until time to ship.

Guest guest
There are some links in the archives, but it is a solar sport, and our cost for the whole works (pots, pans, reflector, thermometer, oven, cookbook, water pasteurization indicator, included shipping, etc) is 182. You can see the oven at http://www.solarovens.org I have had mine since 2004 and used it pretty much daily-fabulous! Guest guest
, I noticed on the website that I can get the oven for $168 without the reflector. And it says you don’t have to use it and if you do use it they recommend removing it if the temp of the oven reaches 300 because it might warp the oven. I’m thinking maybe I don’t need the reflector till winter. It’s in the mid 90’s here now. I may just order from the website to save a few $$$$. Do you use the reflector? Guest guest
, you can order the individual components through me and still save money. To be honest, I typically only offer it as "the works" since it is just easier for me that way, but I can get just the oven, or any of the parts. That said, I HIGHLY recommend getting the reflector. I don't use mine often, but when you need it, you need it-no way around that. On days that start out sunny, then get cloudy, it is worth the few extra bucks to have that reflector on hand to keep your heat, so I DO recommend it. If you don't want it though, email me off list and I will get you our price on the oven without it. I have had others order without, only to go back and get it later-which means additional shipping. I am all about saving a few bucks, so fully understand if you want to order without. Just drop me a line. From: A <blwkk2@...>Subject: Re: Re: Solar oven order update... Guest guest
I hope we can get some ideas direct from the expert (you) when we get them as to what to try in cooking. I loved the sound of the buckwheat bread you mentioned and have some buckwheat I soaked and dried and have not put in cereal yet and am guessing you grind it to flour but am lost after that. I really want to try YOUR recipes/ideas, rather than going with traditional meat recipes. Guest guest
Happy to share my solar recipes! I recommend anyone using a solar oven for the first time start with a simple recipe, such as chili and cornbread, or a stew and buckwheat bread-something to give you a feel for how the oven works. Always happy to share tips on the solar-my favored passion! What I love most about it, is I can throw my food in it in the morning, and forget about it-doesn't matter if I come back to it in a couple of hours, or if I am gone all day-I often forget about it until way late in the day, but there it sits, hot and ready. (it reminds me of crockpot cooking-set and forget) I will be retrieving today's butternut squash from it shortly (a massive squash-about 8 pounds). It will split right open with a fork, and I will top it with freshly made Vitamix butter and devour it! --- On Fri, 6/3/11, Velda <solomon@...> wrote:From: Velda <solomon@...>Subject: Re: Re: Solar oven order update...
