Have a regular blender and it came with a small food processor, very small but, great for a quick chop and rinse off. I think they might sell small processors somewhere for less than a majic bullet, I don't know

hi everyone

i have been drawn lately to the advertisements for the magic bullet...gasp! im looking to my vitamix friends (and gadget friendly types) to weigh in on my getting one. i guess the draw for me is the small containers to chop something quick or make a quick single serving without having to dirty the vitamix. i have the smaller wet container for the vitamix so maybe i should just discipline myself to use that more often.

it is appealing to chop that onion in that small magic bullet cup and and be done. there are a few other things i am drawn to but frankly - i think that just points out to the fact i need to try some new recipes in the vitamix and id be happy. when they promo the mb i saw some new foods or ideas that of course show off the magic bullet but in truth the vm could handle all of that and in bigger quantities if i wanted.

anyhow- off to work but would love you guys to let me know your thoughts. does anyone have the magic bullet btw??

I just had a lady at my most recent show buy a Vitamix and lament the fact that she had recently purchased a Magic Bullet - her biggest gripe was all of the pieces and parts and how much space they took up in her cabinet, and what a pain they were to clean.I LOVE my Vitamix as a food processor and chop onions and lots of things all of the time. Just last night I made mango salsa, and for dinner I chopped up some carrot, celery, onion, zucchini, and yellow squash to saute with about 3 oz. of grass-fed ground beef and 1/4 cup of cooked brown rice. It was quick, delicious and healthy! I LOVE that the blades are attached and don't have to be disassembled and re-assembled for cleaning, and cleaning the VM container is really only a matter of rinsing out the soapy water after giving it a quick buzz. Often I don't clean mine that way at home though - I just use a bottle brush, swish it around a bit, then rinse out the soapy water.So there is one - biased ;-) opinion, but for a different perspective - I found this on the internet while Googling "Magic Bullet vs. Vitamix"http://veggieprairiegirl.blogspot.com/2009/11/vita-mix-versus-magic-bullet.html

I have had the Magic Bullet since the very moment they first came out. In fact, I think I am on my third one (yes, they hold up just fine...I just really put them through their paces) I also have the Ninja. I LOVE them both!! Oh, I have the "baby bullet" too-it was simply TOO cute to pass up. They come in very handy for MANY tasks, when the Vitamix is just overkill or you just want to mix up a coffee drink or a quick egg salad. I would NEVER recommend that someone get one INSTEAD of a Vitamix-there is simply no comparison, but they make a great addition to the kitchen as an add on, if you have the room. (which I don't, but isn't that what spare rooms are for?) I don't use the blender or juicer attachments for my bullet, but the cups and regular containers get a serious workout around here.

I know exactly how you feel which is why I even considered the pitched-by-the-vile-Vince (WHY does he have to be Jewish?!) Slap-Chop a few years ago. However, after reading not-so-hot reviews, I recently came upon those kitchen cutters with the cones that the waterless cookware companies sell and I LOVE it ( has one, too). It's manual, it works in a flash, it's great ("grate?" yuk yuk) for onions, and the cleanup is super-easy and fast. It also slices and makes fries. You can't however, blend with it, and it doesn't dice. If you're cooking really large amounts, a food processor would be a lot faster but you can't beat these things for easy cleanup and they're sturdy as hell, too.

It is a sickness, I can't help myself! Nor do I wish to... (my mother has fussed at me about my kitchen gadget "ailment" since I was about 12 and they came out with those sandwich machines that made little toasted triangles...a neighbor had one and I HAD to have one of my own. I was given one for Christmas...and the passion for gadgets started. Oh, STILL have that old warn out machine too!

The Ninja kicks butt! Mine is actually the Wolfgang Puck version...shiny red, of course! I got it from ebay for a song. I had the original Ninja, but it was blue...can't have that! (made by the same company) SO, I sold the used Ninja on craigslist (for more than what I paid for it new) and got the WP. OMGoodness! I was JUST looking up the link to this! I use my Vitamix 90% of the time because how the chopped pieces "looks" doesn't matter to me. The only thing that matters is the pieces are chopped small, the food is tasty, and the making is as quick and painless as possible - but when I'm making a chopped veggie salad to take to something like a pot luck dinner and looks matter, I use my Vidalia Chop Wizard - it's about the only kitchen "gadget" that I use aside from my Vitamix and pots and pans (my most used pot is my steamer).

I am infected also and it must be genetic. My grandaughter wanted a pasta maker for her birthday. She just had her 15th birthday yesterday. Needless to say I already have it and she will be coming over Saturday for a pasta making lesson. Last year I bought her cake decorating lessons and supplies for her birthday.

Hi Pam, I have a magic bullet and wouldn't recommend it really. Maybe it's just

me, but I have never been able to get it to produce the results they show on tv,

even with " pulsing " (ie not turning it on) it grinds some parts of the onion or

tomato to liquid and on the other hand there are still large chunks) it

certainly doesn't make anything in 1-2-3 little pulses like it shows, at least

not in my experience! Again, maybe it's just me!

One thing I do know isn't me though, it takes alot longer to make a smoothie

than they tell you on tv!

Hopefully others will have advice on how to use it that I can glean from this

Hi ,I have a Bullet that I use for a few things, but choping onion is not one of them. It never chops all the onion before turning the part it does chop into liquid. But it does great in blending juice with BarleyMax.Oh, and I know you are a "solar oven" chef, but with ALL your kitchen gadgets, do you happen to have a NuWave Oven? I do a lot of canning and dehydrating and the Chop Wizard comes in handy for that. Especially for dehydrating because you need the chopped pieces to be uniform in sixe so that they dry at the same time and rehydrate at the same time. It’s a handy little gadget.

That IS cute but I don't think I'd object to blue (I know, I know...). I just don't think I'd ever use it.

There was a period during which the Ninja was getting consistently bad reviews on Amazon and the subject of the Ninja came up on another list. gm all...question re magic bullet OT

hi everyone

i have been drawn lately to the advertisements for the magic bullet...gasp! im looking to my vitamix friends (and gadget friendly types) to weigh in on my getting one. i guess the draw for me is the small containers to chop something quick or make a quick single serving without having to dirty the vitamix. i have the smaller wet container for the vitamix so maybe i should just discipline myself to use that more often.

it is appealing to chop that onion in that small magic bullet cup and and be done. there are a few other things i am drawn to but frankly - i think that just points out to the fact i need to try some new recipes in the vitamix and id be happy. when they promo the mb i saw some new foods or ideas that of course show off the magic bullet but in truth the vm could handle all of that and in bigger quantities if i wanted.

anyhow- off to work but would love you guys to let me know your thoughts. does anyone have the magic bullet btw??

It's a good idea to check online reviews for those As Seen on TV products before buying. Even though some of them are good, it's usually better to wait until you can make a brick-and-mortar purchase as many TV offers charge exorbitant shipping and tack on lots of hidden fees.

Hi Pam, I have a magic bullet and wouldn't recommend it really. Maybe it's just me, but I have never been able to get it to produce the results they show on tv, even with "pulsing" (ie not turning it on) it grinds some parts of the onion or tomato to liquid and on the other hand there are still large chunks) it certainly doesn't make anything in 1-2-3 little pulses like it shows, at least not in my experience! Again, maybe it's just me!

One thing I do know isn't me though, it takes alot longer to make a smoothie than they tell you on tv!

Hopefully others will have advice on how to use it that I can glean from this thread! Have a great day!

My biggest gripe about things with lots of attachments is storage. I start to piece out the pieces I don't use. I do keep the bullet handy, with 4 of the mixing cups at the ready-we often use those instead of the other containers that come with it, since you can toss one of the lids on it and put it in the fridge. I am highly allergic to eggs, and don't let them near my Vitamix, so my daughter mixes her egg salad in one of the others. (for what it is worth folks, I really DO have a legit excuse for "needing" so many gadgets! (wink)

Have a regular blender and it came with a small food processor, very small but, great for a quick chop and rinse off. I think they might sell small processors somewhere for less than a majic bullet, I don't know

I bought a magic bullet the Christmas before last, used it once, and returned it for a refund. It looks great on TV, but it did not have the power to do the things that it was advertised to do.

For chopping, especially onions, I really love the Pampered Chef chopper. You don't even have to touch the onion, and all chopping can be done with the "lid" attached on the bottom, so not much cleanup either. They used to sell a similar item with a glass jar in supermarkets; I kept breaking the jars. Other than that, I thought they did a great job on things like onions and nuts which is why I considered the Slap Chop. I can't see the point of an electric appliance for such jobs, especially for chopped nuts. You have so much more control with something manual.

For small amounts I like a santoko knife the best. I’m not as fast as  Ray but I get the job done and a knife is easy to wash J sometimes a gadget just makes it harder, course I have about a thousand dollars worth of kitchen knifes> I can’t just have one of anything!
