Guest guest
I came inside this morning from talking to the neighbor and my 14 yr. old son, Ben had apparently answered the phone and told my Mom I was outside. This was ok however after hanging up on her apparently called 911 somehow and he was on the phone with them when I came in. Although I told them the situation they still had to send the police out to make sure all was ok. How do you explain that you only call 911 for an emergency so they will comprehend and that it is not to be called for help. I'm afraid if I tell him help he might try and call it for general help with things. Any suggestions? I'm at a loss. Thanks, M.
Guest guest
That was a riot! He told the speech therapist that he did it because he was 14 and could. I just hope that it doesn't happen again. M. Re: Telephone Emergency We have had the same problem with Kenzie (12DS)...I received this in the mail and it always makes me laugh when I listen to it. It's not just our kids that dial 911 for help. S. Hancock......Selling SAVANNAH...One DREAM at a time!!!! Guest guest
Hi I had this problem with Tim when he was much younger. The first time, in the wee hours of the morning, (that was when Tim did his best deeds!) he tried to wake up his older brother Arron. Arron said, " Leave me alone, I'm dead. " So, Tim called 911 and told them his brother was dead! Thankfully, we were able to defuse the situation before we got a million emergency vehicals in our yard. The second time, Tim had a " Fire Prevention " day at school. He received a color book from the fire department and on the back of it, it said Call 911. So, while I was cooking dinner, he...of course...called 911. He asked them how he could become a fireman. I asked the 911 operator to talk with him and explain to him that he should only call in a real emergency. Then, after the call, I explained what an emergency was. If there is blood, a broken bone, a fire, or if I don't wake up after he shakes me, he could call 911. I also explained how very busy the people were there and if he called them he would stop them from helping people that needed help. I am glad to say he hasn't called 911 since. I hope this helps!
