Thanks, Lori. The only reason I HAVE such knowledge, is that MOST things on the market cause me the same issues your sunflower seeds did! I was so sick for so long, and only when I realized how much cross contamination and hidden stuff there is in food, did I realize I HAD to learn to fend for myself and grow my own! There are many types of beans-some vine, some are bush beans. I prefer bush, because I can grow them in containers in my very limited space. I do grow some vine types where I vine them up jute strung to my deck rail, and I have trained a few to go up the side of my house on jute, but I really do prefer the compact bush beans. Yes, most of them are "shellies", where you strip the beans from the pod-actually one of my favorite things to do! I love to pluck all the pods off the bush, and take them up to my

favorite spot at the gorgeous lake near my home, and I sit and shuck while my daughter swims-LOVE it! I end up with enough beans to last me through the winter. I save out enough beans to plant next years crop-haven't had to buy beans in any form in many years now. I suggest trying it out in a container. Cranberry (also known as October) beans are my very favorite-they are speckled burgundy and white, grow long (lots of beans in each pod) and are mild and buttery. I also love "yard longs" where each bean is around 2-3 feet in length-one bean pod can make more than a meal!! Very cool hobby, lol. From: LB <leapnmeezers@...>Subject: Re: Hi there :) Anybody here grind navy bean into

you never cease to amaze me you are such a blessing with your experience and knowledge. I did buy organic beans, I recently recovered from an experience of buying some roasted sunflower seeds - 3 days of migraine headaches and living in the bathroom I discovered after being able to see - that those babies had MSG in them - didn't see it because it was squeezed in beside the fold of the label...

I don't know if we are even going to have much of a summer here in Vt is has been constantly raining since March here it seems..it seems like the only thing growing here in Vt is the grass lately!

Do beans need a lot of room? Are they similar to bush beans/pole beans in that you shuck them?

Well thank you - God bless, be well ^..^

where do you buy seeds for plants such as beans when you are looking for

a new variety? I had such good tomatoes from one large container last summer

that I would like to plant some other things such as beans. How large a

container do you use for beans and how many seeds/plants per pot or box? Hubby

has been making lots of great compost in his little power composter box that I

would love to use.

LOL, if you do dishes and windows, Velda, consider yourself adopted! You are welcome to come to my mini farm any day-it is certainly a fun and interesting "hobby" that keeps me in groceries year round. You HAVE to love a hobby that does that! I will post some pics later to show you how easy it really is.

Where do you live? I would come tomorrow if I could! Unfortunately

we are not traveling much this year. Between the price of fuel and

stuff we need to do around here, we will be spending time here, so I

can plant what I want! I can hardly wait to see pictures.

You are about 3 hours from me. I love Rome too but my second choice of where to live would be anywhere in the Smokeys! One of my obsessions is genealogy and I have lots of dead ancestors scattered all around you.

I don’t bIame you! I would never leave if I lived there.

My ancestors were mostly in Buncombe and Cherokee Counties in NC, Blount, Monroe and Knox counties in TN, and York and Chester in SC. I’m sure I’ve left somebody out though.

I will think of your ancestors when I am tending my earth. It is truly beautiful here. I feel very fortunate to live in such a lovely, peaceful place. For years, I spent a good portion of the year in Florida-rarely go there now.

you never cease to amaze me you are such a blessing with your experience and knowledge. I did buy organic beans, I recently recovered from an experience of buying some roasted sunflower seeds - 3 days of migraine headaches and living in the bathroom I discovered after being able to see - that those babies had MSG in them - didn't see it because it was squeezed in beside the fold of the label...I don't know if we are even going to have much of a summer here in Vt is has been constantly raining since March here it seems..it seems like the only thing growing here in Vt is the grass lately!Do beans need a lot of room? Are they similar to bush beans/pole beans in that you shuck them?Well thank you - God bless, be well ^..^lori> >> > I haven't posted for bit, but love all the lively posts of the VM group here ^..^> > > > I was thinking of trying to grind some small white navy beans into flour with my VM.> > > > Normally when I make baked beans - I wash the beans and let them soak. It sure is lovely! You live in the Smokeys, my very favorite place to be! And I’m almost a neighbor. I live in north western GA. I can just imagine the view from your deck.

I live in lovely Western NC, within miles of the borders of SC, TN and GA. I can see all four states from my deck, lol.
