Guest guest
Thanks, Lori. The only reason I HAVE such knowledge, is that MOST things on the market cause me the same issues your sunflower seeds did! I was so sick for so long, and only when I realized how much cross contamination and hidden stuff there is in food, did I realize I HAD to learn to fend for myself and grow my own! There are many types of beans-some vine, some are bush beans. I prefer bush, because I can grow them in containers in my very limited space. I do grow some vine types where I vine them up jute strung to my deck rail, and I have trained a few to go up the side of my house on jute, but I really do prefer the compact bush beans. Yes, most of them are "shellies", where you strip the beans from the pod-actually one of my favorite things to do! I love to pluck all the pods off the bush, and take them up to my favorite spot at the gorgeous lake near my home, and I sit and shuck while my daughter swims-LOVE it! I end up with enough beans to last me through the winter. I save out enough beans to plant next years crop-haven't had to buy beans in any form in many years now. I suggest trying it out in a container. Cranberry (also known as October) beans are my very favorite-they are speckled burgundy and white, grow long (lots of beans in each pod) and are mild and buttery. I also love "yard longs" where each bean is around 2-3 feet in length-one bean pod can make more than a meal!! Very cool hobby, lol. From: LB <leapnmeezers@...>Subject: Re: Hi there Anybody here grind navy bean into flour with their VM dry container Date: Sunday, May 22, 2011, 4:07 PM you never cease to amaze me you are such a blessing with your experience and knowledge. Guest guest
where do you buy seeds for plants such as beans when you are looking for a new variety? I had such good tomatoes from one large container last summer that I would like to plant some other things such as beans. How large a container do you use for beans and how many seeds/plants per pot or box? Hubby has been making lots of great compost in his little power composter box that I would love to use. Guest guest
LOL, if you do dishes and windows, Velda, consider yourself adopted! You are welcome to come to my mini farm any day-it is certainly a fun and interesting "hobby" that keeps me in groceries year round. You HAVE to love a hobby that does that! I will post some pics later to show you how easy it really is. Guest guest
Where do you live? I would come tomorrow if I could! Unfortunately we are not traveling much this year. Between the price of fuel and stuff we need to do around here, we will be spending time here, so I can plant what I want! I can hardly wait to see pictures.
