Guest guest
About a month ago, Nic's LS teacher asked me if Bob or I could go on Nic's field trip to Crystal Caves (it's the 25th of this month). They were concerned about how he would behave and thought he would do better with one of us there-then they wouldn't send one of the classroom aides along. I get claustrophobic in the caves but thought this would be a great opportunity for Nic to have some different kind of inclusion, so I am taking the day off from work (without pay) to go along. The kids only had to pay 1.00 (the Home and School Assoc is paying the rest). I sent in 2.00 one for each of us. I just received an email from the reg ed teacher saying my fee is 6.50. I scroll down to the bottom and found this email from a room parent: " I budgeted enough for us, 4 parent chaperones per class, and Danette and Jane. Any additional adults will need to bring money to pay for their admission. The tour in the cave is $6.50 with a group. " If they are all going for free, why shouldn't I? After all, they asked me to go. I checked the staff directory and Danette is an instructional Assist (I am going in the same capacity) and Jane is a LS teacher. If I'm going in lieu of Nic's assistant, then I should not have to pay. I guess it's just the principle of the thing, 6.50 is not expensive but on the other hand, no one else is paying and they asked me. Am I being petty?
