I don't know much about except for the rants I hear. A google search

shows up two IDs. One is an individual k12academics@... and the

other is a website k12academics.com. I haven't a clue whether they are

related to eacch other.

K12academics.com appears to be a valid operation in that reputable

schools dealing with developmental disabilities such as Maplebrook in

Amenia are cross referenced. They also seem to be looking for some

regular inputs or " columns " on something like a biweekly basis on topics

such as dislexia. It is a commercial operation and does have some

charges for the listings and as one would suspect is grossly incomplete

in listing school programs by state.

look at them on at www.k12academics.com if you want to.

It wouldn't be unseemly for either the organization behind the website

or an individual in the organization to join listservs such as ours.

There, as any member, they can read what we post and send individual

emails to the persons who post. The names of subscribers who never post

are protected because we don't have a public members list. This seems

true for all the DS forums I subscribe to, but it isn't true for lots of

other forums on the web.

Now, as to internet advice. If you are suspicious about something you

receive, simply don't open it (at least unless you are very sure your

antivirus is up to date and will scan it before opening). If it is

something with an attachment and you don't know who the sender is or

what the attachment is (don't trust what is in the message) and you are

curious enough, then send email to the apparent sender and ask what it

is .. and wait for a response before opening. If it is spam or annoys

you, use the delete key and do not respond. There are nasty people out

on the internet and they can do bad things if they can compromise your

computer or talking you into giving them vital personal information.

It is OK to get VERY ANGRY, but don't respond!
