Guest guest
Ok guys what do you think i should do or consider for next year. Syds teacher said as far as she is concerned she will move to first...but her EC teacher and I have talked in depth about allllllll options. I think Sydnie could do 1st grade regular classroom with the right modifications. What do you think I should really look at??? ~Angie Research Associate of Child Development and Human Relations to Sydnie (5/26/00) and Saylor (4/30/04) www.babiesonline.com/babies/s/sydniebrooke *updated 10/01/06* www.babiesonline.com/babies/b/babytate *updated 10/01/06* " May God Bless You As He Has Us " An extra little chromosome, that's all it is, you see. Guest guest
is 9- and is now in Grade 3. He has been mainstreamed his whole school life- even daycare and kindy/preschool. has been in composite classes most of his school life- except for the first year- and has functioned well. He is also pulled out every day for 3 hours for reading and maths. all other school activities ( including after school Teeball) he is fully included and they modify curriculum as they need to. He gets some school support- I believe he gets 8 hours support each week. He is very happy with is peers in his class, and he has come a long way since he started school. This teacher he has this year, he had last year, and she has stopped him chewing his thumb in class, and makes sure knows what is expected of him, and she is quiet strict with him. She also stands up for him as needed- eg one day he bought flowers to school for Mrs Megson ( teacher ) and Liam. Now when the other classmates laughed that he gave Liam flowers- Mrs Megson told the class it was unacceptable to laugh at others no matter what they did, and that it was not usually accepted that boys give boys flowers, but that it can happen. She then took all the flowers and out them in a vase and then steered kids towards what the were doing in group time. Full inclusion isn't for everyone, and it may not be for in a few years time. But it is what he seems to want, and is coping well. Oh he gets pulled out of school early on Thursday for special needs swimming lessons too. The other kids seem jealous he gets to go swimming every week Aussie Leis- mum to 9 , Natasha 5 and 3. One of the most obvious facts about grownups to a child is that they have forgotten what it is like to be a child.
