Guest guest
Keep up the good work. Also remember that without excess salt aldo will not raise BP. Perhaps you have changed your diet some as well? CE Grim, BS (Chem and Math), MS (Biochemistry), MD. Guest guest
Yes, I've reduced salt, too, rather drastically (below 1000 mg daily). > Keep up the good work. > > Also remember that without excess salt aldo will not raise BP. Guest guest
I read a bit about Inspra and was wondering about arrthymia. I get palpitations every now and then where my heartbeat speeds up and then slows down and once this summer while off my medications for further bloodwork, my pulse was quite rapid for several hours-(hospitalized). So, I"m wondering if this is a drug for me or should I stick with Spiro? Re: update on my drugs Keep up the good work. Also remember that without excess salt aldo will not raise BP. Guest guest
My experience is that Inspra is just for the aldo blocking. I take Atenolol for heartbeat/palpitation issues (I have a bad mitral valve which causes that). I've not heard that Inspra helps with that. Perhaps Dr Grim has some insight into that. Guest guest
Is your MVP also causing the valve to gap open and blood to regurgitate into the atrium? Mine is, and it gets monitored every year via echocardiogram. If you are tired, there is the possibility that your heart is starting to weaken from the overwork caused by the bad valve. You should ask your cardiologist about that. The other possibility is with the hyperaldosteronism, if your potassium (K) is low, you will get tired. When was the last time your K level was checked? > > I read a bit about Inspra and was wondering about arrthymia. Guest guest
how is the inspra i would like to try it but scared cuz the spero is doing a fine job on the b\p but man am i tired and depresed Mark update on my drugs I've found since I've been on Inspra that I've been able to cut myatenolol in half from 100 mg to 50mg, and I'm currently working oneliminating Norvasc as well (was at 5mg). So far, BP has beenremaining in the 120s/70s. I guess its true, its just the aldo that'scauing HTN for me, since Inspra seems to be doing the trick withoutthe other drugs.Jim
Guest guest
I've been doing fine on the Inspra. I've found for myself that my tireness is usually a result of too much salt in a particular day, and probably loss of potassium because of that. If I watch my salt intake I usually feel less fatigued. > how is the inspra i would like to try it but scared cuz the spero is doing a fine job on the b\p but man am i tired and depresed > Mark > update on my drugs > > > > I've found since I've been on Inspra that I've been able to cut my > atenolol in half from 100 mg to 50mg, and I'm currently working on > eliminating Norvasc as well (was at 5mg). Guest guest
Mark, How much spiro have you been on, and how... ummm.. emasculating has it been (besides the gynocomastia)? 100mg of inspra doesn't seem to be enough, and the cost is getting outrageous. I'm very scared of the spiro. I'm single, and what woman would date a guy with boobs and no manhood? Maybe I can add amiloride instead.... this stinks! Thanks, Mike > how is the inspra i would like to try it but scared cuz the spero is doing a fine job on the b\p but man am i tired and depresed > Mark > update on my drugs > > > > I've found since I've been on Inspra that I've been able to cut my > atenolol in half from 100 mg to 50mg, and I'm currently working on > eliminating Norvasc as well (was at 5mg). Guest guest
Hi Mark... thanks for the info... 200mg inspra... wow... that's $400 a month at costco (the cheapest place by far) <sigh> this could be a major problem soon for me, since my disability carrier is fighting to kick me off, and then I'll lose my Rx plan. It isn't approved in Canada yet, but apparently is available in Europe. For me the surgical option is viable, since they found the node on one gland, but Dr. Grim and my doctor seem to share the feeling that surgery should be a last resort. I hear that they are experimenting with just scraping off the outer layer of the gland, and leaving the inner part ok. This is important for me, since epinephrine stabilzes my very active mast cells (i.e. anaphylaxis), so maybe I can find someone to do something like that. Of course we'll need to do the renal vein sampling thing first. Today my BP was unusually low. Let's hope it is the start of a trend (knock on wood)! I've been reducing salt. I found this Pritikin soup which is pretty good, and finally found some low-salt ketchup. I also found low-salt ham and salami--both of which were surprisingly good. I think I actually like the low salt ketchup better. Eating out will be a major problem, unfortunately, but I'm getting used to flavorless foods. Last time I tried to reduce salt, my BP went up--probably from my autonomic neuropathy compensating for it (which is why I'm supposed to try tapering off the effexor). As to Dr. Grim's suggestion, I am taking the inspra twice a day, but it's only been a couple of weeks since I upped the dose. Sometimes I get impatient and scared... especially losing my Rx plan. I feel like I'm forced with a difficult choice--go broke or lose my masculinity. Thanks, Mike > > how is the inspra i would like to try it but scared cuz the spero > is doing a fine job on the b\p but man am i tired and depresed > > Mark > > update on my drugs > > > > > > > > I've found since I've been on Inspra that I've been able to cut > my > > atenolol in half from 100 mg to 50mg, and I'm currently working > on > > eliminating Norvasc as well (was at 5mg).
