You can PUBMED it s and see how and why GF will intererfer with any drugs and the evvect lasts for a number of days. It has to do with how the drugs are metabilized. In the HTN arena it is mostly some CCBs.

What is the deal with grapefruit, Dr Grim? Some say not to use it

w/BB's, and other to use it with inspra.

Hi Dave

My pharmacist really seemed to know quite a bit about it, maybe more than my

doctor. I thought I would have to drink grapefruit juice everyday. He

explained that it has a lasting effect for several days. He recommended a glass

every 2-3 days if I didn't want to drink it everyday. I do believe it helps.

He and the Doctor made they same statement, that no one really knows why it

works, other citrus doesn't have the same effect. I was on 2 BBs, boy glad I'm

off them. I was off them before I knew about the grapefruit thing. I am lucky

I take nothing but 200mg Inspra, grapefruit juice 2-3 times a week, and

700-800mg sodium on DASH diet, and everything seems to be going pretty well.

Glad to be off the hand full of meds I used to take.

Hope this helps, Randy

<>< May we all be DASHing! ><> Pun intended, of course.
