I wanted to see what they charged for shipping and I found out that shipping as

around $12 for ground, but they also add on a $10 HANDLING FEE.

What a disappointment.

I called vitamix last week and was told that they have VERY recently made a change to the blade assembly on the wet blade container so they are supposed to be sending me a replacement wet blade assembly. They said that anyone who is having these issues should contact them as well and that they would take care of you. Hope this helps :-)

I called them a long time ago, and they offered me nothing other than to sell me

a new blade assembly. I will give them another call just in case.

Does anyone have an extra wet blade assembly they're not using? Are they

replacing these blades without requesting the old ones? Maybe someone had

theirs replaced and their old one still works? Just hoping....

I'm not Lea Ann but you should contact customer service if you machine is under warranty (or maybe even if it isn't). Also, are you sure the assembly is defective rather than just loose?

Need to order wet blade assembly - Mine Leaks

We've talked about this before, and I determined that the leak is coming from the wet blade assembly, not the container.

The least expensive source I found was at:

http://www.instawares.com/blender-parts-wet-blade.04-0083.0.7.htm?s_cseid=GSHP

for the Vita Mix 1152 Wet Blade. $50.86

Google rated the seller 4 stars with 956 seller ratings.

I won't make this purchase without asking you, Lea Ann. What do you think?

As I said before, it is out of warranty. I purchased the Vitamix wrench and

used that to tighten. I also took it off my wet container and put it on my dry

container. It still leaked in the bottom middle of the assembly.

It says, "compatible with the Vita-Pro and the Vita-Prep" do you have a 5200? I assume the blade would work in a 5200, but you know what happens when you assume…;-)I'd call Vitamix at 1-800-848-2649 Their Customer Service is awesome!

That is frustrating. What is Vitamix asking for a new blade assembly? (I'm assuming your machine is out of warranty?)BTW, a whole new container is $99 with Free Ship through me. I know that is a lot. I only mentioned it in case you didn't know you had that option…

Well, if it is out of warranty then I guess you'll have to get a new one. If you're willing to pay $50 I'll order you a new one and pay the difference if you send me your address…

I am going to take a guess and say you have lost the seal on the bearing. So replacement is your only option to stop the leaking. Most of us who have replaced the blade assembly have done so because of some issue such as bent blade or the bearing going out so getting a used one my not solve you issue. Sorry the best long term solution is buy a new blade or container. TlongThink Positive Be Positive

I checked on the Vitamix site and that's the part number for the 5000 series. However, since his machine is out of warranty, it's unlikely that it's a 5200 because my 5000 will be 7 years old this year which means there were no 5200s prior to it. Maybe he has a 5000? That would work. I'm not sure about anything before that, though, including the 4500.

That's an expensive part; I can't imagine that most people would either replace it if it wasn't necessary, i.e., the old ones would pretty likely be defective, no?

Well, it must have a model number. If you look on the back, you can find it and then do a search; you'll know that way.

OK, so that there would be no confusion, I looked at my VitaMix. Like I said before, it is the white one. On the front it says.

Super Total Nutrition Center.

On the manuf. label it says:

Commercial Houshold Food Preparing Machine

Model# V0103

There is another # on the bottom left of the label, and I don't know if that's the serial # or not.

So which machine do I have? :>)

Pete

p.s. Why would they use the words COMMERCIAL and HOUSEHOLD in the same description?

O.K. I called Vitamix's customer service, and they informed me that the TNC -

Total Nutrition Center is actually a model 4500. I purchased mine in 1997, and

so it is definetly out of warranty.

Their replacement blade is $90 plus tax and shipping.

I would contact them anyway. It is possible that since you talked to them

before, they found there was an issue with some, hence the new version.

Maybe even point out you had checked on this issue in the past, but have now

heard they are replacing some because it was a more widespread issue than

originally believed?

Worst thing that happens is they still say no. Then you could ask if they would

consider giving you a discount on the replacement part since they are now

replacing them for other free of charge.

If nothing else you get the current price of the replacement part and can ask

shipping cost so while you are shopping around trying to find a better price you

know what the new one would cost for comparison.
