Ok.. I am a Unit leader for the American Heritage Girls. I work with

girls age 9-14. TWO of my new girls have Autism. One is diagnosed as

being " on the Spectrum " , the other girl is not as high functioning. (

pardon me if I make mistakes here.. I have NO real idea what I am

talking about.. )

In reality I am going to have to get to know each girl to figure out

what their abilities are etc. But what are some basics are there any

generalizations that are actually true? Structure.. Is it a good thing

or a bad thing? ( I am a structure holic , but can go with the flow. But

I do better in structure) . Any tips hints ideas or book recommendations

so I can help them integrate into the group better, enhance their

experience, and overall make it a positive experience for all involved.

I have NO.. not a drop of experience with Autism whatsoever.

doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; in that case,

the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive. "
