Hi ,

Welcome to the group! I'm glad you joined in. I was chuckling at the

" do most of you not cheat AT ALL " question. I've had years of success

with BFL and I cheat all over the place. I am a cheaty-cheaterton. I

even wrote a little article called Cheater's Prosper:

It's been my observation over the last six years of BFL, that the

flexible eaters stay lean and fit. They actually succeed in making it

a way of life. Meanwhile, the rigid 12-week perfect people are either

totally " on " or they're off getting fat somewhere. They never find any

middle ground so they have to keep starting over and over again.

Make it your goal to have a messy and permanent transformation. :-)

Im a perfectionist-that with a little bit of OCD, UGH!.I try not to cheat

because of those character traits. I find that if i cheat, I really beat myself

up about it. A lot of the appeal of BFL to me, is the free day. I can

rationalize its ok eating clean with no cheats 6 days a week, because i can have

anything on my free day. I do still tend to go a little nuts on my free days,

and im sure that is slowing my overall progress, but thats ok with me! Im on

week 11 and the only cheat ive had was new years eve when i gave in to peer

pressure and drank. (and did i give myself a lashing for that!) Im that same way

with workouts. I havent missed any since starting BFL. If I miss, id feel like I

did something wrong. But thats ok, because I have a rest day, and Ive developed

a routine - so now waking up early and exercising is 2nd nature!

I think really, you need to do whats right for you! If I let myself cheat, I

wouldnt have lasted this long. I would have rationalized " whats the point " and

gone over board with the cheating. Now, im looking forward to a strong end of

challenge 1 and a fresh start in challenge 2.

Pamela Peeke.. " Body For Life For Women " guru, was on the National Body

Challenge's show on the Discovery Health Channel, it's format is kinda set-up

like " The Biggest Loser " ...anyway I was a little shocked by her appearance, she

is bottom heavy..she has pretty big thighs, etc.. and I guess I expected her to

be a great shape!!

Did anyone else see the show?

Amen. I think there is nothing better than that one little Hershey's

kiss or teeny candy bar after lunch every day. Well, not every day, if

the chocolate jar at work is empty are filled with the bigger " small "

bars, then I opt for a chocolate calcium chew. Keeps me satisfied for

anything sweet for the rest of the day.

I didn't care for the BFL for women. I agree with you Pam. I read the book and

immediately gave it away to someone who had never worked out before. It didn't

compare to the original BFL

Someone asked if I am getting results this time around, I have been doing the

exercise portion of BFL for three weeks and the food, like I said is a good day

here and a bad day there. I did lose 2 pounds and a little in inches so I can't

complain. This is where I usually get stuck. Since I am only dealing with those

last 10 stubborn pounds, but have been for a few years.

I just want to say to everyone who has a lot of weight to lose that I admire

you all being in the gym more than anyone who is thin. Everytime I see someone

who seems to be struggling or embarassed, I say a little prayer for them and I

try to give them a little verbal acknowledgement.....KEEP IT UP EVERYONE!

can now walk with a walker and even sometimes a cane. I joined this group hoping to help anyone that needs it, and hopefully to get some help myself. I am still trying to deal with the fact that I can never be of use to my family or anyone else. I know all the " but your alive and here for us mentally" crap that everyone keeps telling me and all I can think about is the burden I have become. Well, I'm starting to feel sorry for myself and that makes me angry so I'll sign off now. It is nice to know that I'm not alone, so thanks everybody for letting me babble. Hi Regina, I live in Alaska, but would be more than happy to send you a nice

thick scoby. All I ask is for reimbursement for shipping (I have recently found

a glass jar suitable in size to ship a scoby in that will let me ship it in a

flat rate priority shipping box for $8.95.)and the cost of the jar would be

$2.50 for a 3 inch scoby or $3.87 for a jar that fits a gallon size scoby

(approx. 8 inches) I would be leary of using a 'scoby' that came from k-tea that

was flavored. Because it isn't recommended to use flavored teas in a regular

batch of k-tea, I would think it would be the same thing with this. My son was

successful in getting a scoby going with the use of a plain store bought tea,

but it took several months for it to really establish itself. It was very cool

when he did it, and I would highly recommend putting some form of heat (perhaps

a heating pad) under the jar you ferment the tea in, if you can find a plain or

'original' store bought k-tea. Most websites recommend that it is o.k. to do

some experimental things with flavored teas, but to never ever mix your original

scoby with it, as the chemical structure of the soby will be different from a

normal batch of k-tea. I will send an attachment with my directions for making

k-tea and kombucha tips, since it has been a long time since you were able to

make k-tea. Hopefully this will help you remember everything you need to know.

Hello all,I was a kombucha-user in the 90s but for one reason or another (could

grow your own 'mother' simplyby adding some unpasturized (raw) kombucha to your

tea (made the way youwould if you were adding the SCOBY), so I decided to give

it a try. Isearched to see if anyone in the Tulsa area had one to share, but

didn'tfind anyone so decided to give it a try. I went to the health food

storeand purchased the kombucha, but the only ones they had were flavored, so

I'mgiving that a shot. It had something floating on the top, so I am hoping

itwill grow. In the meantime, I am scouring through the posts to update mymemory

on the process of brewing.In the past, my KT tasted more like vinegar than tea.

I tasted the stuff Ibought yesterday and it was pretty good. Now I have more of

an idea of whatit should taste like when it is done. Thanks to all the veterans

I'm new, too! I've had my Vitamix for four whole days now. :)

I buy my Agave Nectar at Trader Joe's. It seems to be the most reasonably

priced, although after reading the links on the Vitamixlady's web page, I think

I will try to use it less.

I bought my Vitamix (lovingly called " Darth Vito " by my kids, because it's the

black one and because they name everything) after watching the demos for over

two years. My husband *finally* bought in after trying the green smoothie at

the demo.

We have a combination of allergies and issues with texture in our family. My

son cannot chew nor swallow anything with different textures, so I figure the

Vitamix can help him out. My daughter's allergic to peanuts and I'm allergic to

milk and eggs. I know I am going to love the added control I can have with

what we can eat.

I do have a couple of question - we did not buy the dry blade container. Is it

still possible to grind up things like flax seeds w/the wet blade?
