Has anyone out there experience a fast weight gain after having

their adrenal tumor and gland removed

I don't have a tumor, that they can tell, so my dr. says it's hyperplasia, but since putting me on Spiro in June, I've gained about 20+ lbs.

Yes, about 10 lbs in 10 days. But don't forget you are laying around.

Was yours a laporoscopy? How are you feeling? How long has it been

since you came home? Id your BP down? They tell you the skin and

connective upper tissues fuse right away, but I felt like I had 4 38

caliber slugs in my flank. Od course, that is almost what it is like,

except they know PRECISELY where NOT to go with the bullet (tubes).

Spiro I never tried, for reasons Dr Grim can't understand (me neither),

but soon I am starting. Using amerloride/procardia/atenolol together

is for the birds.

I gained weight after switching from Spiro to Inspra, but I don't attribute it directly to the Inspra. I have noticed that I have more PMS symptoms and blemishes on Inspra than I did on Spiro, both of which will cause me to eat more because I am a stress eater. For what it's worth, with some effort, I did lose a significant amount of weight last year while on 50 mg of Spiro (around 60 pounds).

RE: Conns syndrome post operative

I also gained about 20 lbs. shortly after starting spiro (100 mg.). I am considering switching to Inspra. Has anyone reported weight loss after starting Inspra?

Hi beth,

I had been on a losing spree(wasn't really trying) for about a year

prior to starting Spiro. I had lost about 20 lbs. Everything that I

had lost is now back, plus a pound or two..... =P This means that my

losing spree has stopped, and now I'm gaining. Something I really did

not need to do. Shortly after starting the Spiro though, my primary

care dr. put me on Avandia, as well as the metformin I was already

on. Now he has me on a combination of the two, avandamet. Can't say

which medicine it is, but I'm certainly not a happy camper about it.....

On the other hand, my New Year's resolution is to attain better

health, meaning better control of my diabetes, more exercise, and a

better mental(and spiritual) attitude about life in general. It's been

a tough year at my house. I lost my mom to cancer in February, and it

was not long after that that I started showing signs of the low K.....

I'm assuming that traumatic events can trigger the onset of such

things. Dr. Grim, any comments on that?

I believe I have lost muscle mass since starting

Spironolactone.

hmmmmmmm....... I have definitely lost muscle strength. In fact, I injured my rotator cuff on Nov. 2 just from moving a sofa. I've moved my furniture around since I was big enough to scoot it, and have never had these problems. I used to work in a nursing home(about 25+ years ago), lifting on old people, and heavy people. Now my rotator cuff, although it doesn't need surgery, is taking an extremely long time to heal. The slightest wrong movement can cause my knees to go weak all over again. And I'm feeling some of the same symptoms in my other shoulder, I suppose from compensating for this one. The strange thing is, it's not abuse that is causing me to reinjure it, but rather just simple motions, things like wringing out a wash cloth or swishing out a toilet bowl. Even putting on my undergarments can cause it to hurt. oh well, enough complaining!!! Happy New Year everyone.......

Even though I have PA, and complications (not an easy case), and have

improved diet, exercise etc., I am often reminded that simply aging can

make our bodies hurt easier, and recover slower. Part of life, but NOT

having PA would make this more tolerable, I believe.

I have!!!! Inspra rocks! It's the best RX I've EVER had! Almost

NO side effects!

Please swqitch over. Inspra need smore sales. There is a potential

(hopefully very small) danger that it may be discontinued. Sales

are much lower than expectations.

Thanks,

Mike
