Guest guest
Why? Sugar content..majority of the carbs in SlimFast come from sugar..and sugar is a direct fatloss inhibitor...drinking Slimfasts are basically 'working for you' now because you are still creating a caloric deficit (calories in = calories out) - so it may be working for you now to use these but in the longrun it may not..in general too for a 'meal replacement' it is too low in protein and the protein in it comes from soy and not whey..everyone is different..do what works for you but the concensus in general is that SlimFast is more like SlimFAT.. <<joni>> *who thinks a 5lb container of whey protein powder is still probably cheaper per serving than SLimfast and probably better for you*
Guest guest
That may be true, but until they stop working, I'm definitely enjoying the money I'm saving. This is my second challenge utilizing slimfast products with bfl, and if you multiply that times eas prices, I say, Kudos to slimfast. When I stop seeing progress I'll switch. However, I truly don't think substituting slimfast any products for 1 or 2 meals won't do harm. The funny part is that my sister started with me using eas supplements, and I mean the works, betagen, phenfree, myoplex shakes and bars. The funny part is that she hasn't gained as much muscle, or lost as much fat as I, and we both started with similar fat percentages ect. I suppose it is a personal thing, but boy am I happy to save money and seeing the same and almost better results than those I've seen taking high priced supplements. The bottom line is this: If I'm gaining muscle, losing fat, and not noticing a drop in insulin or excessive cravings, I don't see any reason to go bankrupt on high priced supplements. --- In @y..., jgrrl2 <no_reply@y...> wrote: > Why? Guest guest
Well I suppose if you add extra protein without carbs to that slimfast shake it's not that bad, but I would think that myoplex bars have a lot less sugar than those slimfast cookie dough bars. > I use the following slimfast supplements for three of my daily meals: > > Chocolate slim fast shake > > 220 calories > 40 grams carbs > 10 grams protein > 3 grams fat > > * I usually add 1/2 scoop of plain protein powder....or take the > shake alone and lower my carbs for one meal. > > Cookie Dough Slim Fast bars > > 220 calories > 36 grams carbs > 8 grams protein > 5 grams fat > > * I don't worry about the 15 grams of protein I'm missing here > because I make up for it in other meals, or I have a small piece of > chicken with eggwhites with the bar. > > I've been taking slimfast supplements and following bfl in every > other aspect, and I'm gaining muscle, losing 1 1/2 - 2 pounds of fat > every week like clock work. > > I usually eat every two hours, so although slimfast products may not > hold off hunger as long as barley and tuna...they keep me very > satisfied for the 2-3 hours between meals and I don't experience > hunger or insulin drops. > > Eas supplements are just to darn expensive.....I want to lose > fat...but don't want to be in shape and bankrupt...lol. Guest guest
Well there really isn't that much of a difference in the bars, here are the stats, Myoplex Lite Bar vs Slimfast Dough Bar Calories Myoplex 190 Slimfast 220 Fat Myoplex 3.5g Slimfast 5g Sugars Myoplex 15g Slimfast 20g Choles Myoplex <5mg Slimfast <5 mg Carbs Myoplex 28g Slimfast 36g Sodium Myoplex 190mg Slimfast 160 mg Fiber Myoplex 1g Slimfast 2g Protein Myoplex 15g Slimfast 8g I usually add extra protiein to a shake or meals later in the day to balance out the few grams of protein missing in this bar, or eat a piece of chicken or quality protein with with the bar. > > I use the following slimfast supplements for three of my daily > meals: > > > > Chocolate slim fast shake > > > > 220 calories > > 40 grams carbs > > 10 grams protein > > 3 grams fat > > > > * I usually add 1/2 scoop of plain protein powder....or take the > > shake alone and lower my carbs for one meal. > > > > Cookie Dough Slim Fast bars > > > > 220 calories > > 36 grams carbs > > 8 grams protein > > 5 grams fat > > > > * I don't worry about the 15 grams of protein I'm missing here > > because I make up for it in other meals, or I have a small piece of > > chicken with eggwhites with the bar. > > > > I've been taking slimfast supplements and following bfl in every > > other aspect, and I'm gaining muscle, losing 1 1/2 - 2 pounds of > fat > > every week like clock work. > > > > I usually eat every two hours, so although slimfast products may > not > > hold off hunger as long as barley and tuna...they keep me very > > satisfied for the 2-3 hours between meals and I don't experience > > hunger or insulin drops. > > > > Eas supplements are just to darn expensive.....I want to lose > > fat...but don't want to be in shape and bankrupt...lol. Guest guest
Good for you for being brave enough to try them out! I have always read that they are full of sugar and compare to eating Snickers bars, etc. I still won't ever use them, but it's nice to hear a testimony from someone who actually has and is successful! Park Slimfast supplements used wisely with BFL works for me!! I use the following slimfast supplements for three of my daily meals: Chocolate slim fast shake 220 calories 40 grams carbs 10 grams protein 5 grams fat * I usually add 1/2 scoop of plain protein powder....or take the shake alone and lower my carbs for one meal. Cookie Dough Slim Fast bars 220 calories 36 grams carbs 8 grams protein 5 grams fat * I don't worry about the 15 grams of protein I'm missing here because I make up for it in other meals, or I have a small piece of chicken with eggwhites with the bar. I've been taking slimfast supplements and following bfl in every other aspect, and I'm gaining muscle, losing 1 1/2 - 2 pounds of fat every week like clock work. I usually eat every two hours, so although slimfast products may not hold off hunger as long as barley and tuna...they keep me very satisfied for the 2-3 hours between meals and I don't experience hunger or insulin drops. Eas supplements are just to darn expensive.....I want to lose fat...but don't want to be in shape and bankrupt...lol. In contrast, slimfast supplements are affordable and easy to find. My question: Why are a lot of people so against slimfast? Is this because eas/bfl advises against them(understanably), or is it based on experience from using these supplements " wisely " . As long as I don't exceed my protein, carb, and fat requirements for the ENTIRE day, what's wrong with taking slimfast products in between my other three meals? Had I not taken a chance I would have never known that I could lose fat steadily on SF supplements. Two of my other co-workers are combining slimfast products with bfl and also have great success. Chizzy p.s. This is my 10th week and so far I've lost 21 pounds of fat, and gained over 8 pounds of muscle.
Guest guest
Also, you don't 'have' to use bars/shakes, but if they are working for you, than go for it. I'm on a tight tight tight budget right now and find that buying " regular foods " is a lot cheaper for me at the moment. Guest guest
Thanks for the comments on my transformation! You know, I never had a sweet tooth until I started BFL! I was a grease and salt girl. Now all I want on free day is Butterfinger bars. During the week I eat a lot of fruit (like 4 to 5 pieces a day) and I often make Raylene's snackin protein jello which tastes great for something sweet. I do also use a protein bar (about 1 a day max) which is chocolat-ey. Guest guest
I haven't tried that snackin jello yet, but I keep hearing a lot about it. Maybe I'll whip up a serving this weekend. I notice that my tastes are changing a little also. I've always craved sugar, but never salt, and lately I've had a taste for salty foods. I think the body craves a little of everything, and when it's denied completely it eventually finds a way to get what it wants. > > Good for you for being brave enough to try them out! Guest guest
Have you been to Mrs. Bishwit's site yet? I LOVE her recipe for Peanut Butter Protein Cups (I think that's the name, you'd think I'd have it memorized by now I eat it so often!). Here's a link to her site in case you haven't been there (Great recipes) http://www.mrsbishwitskitchen.com/forums/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=5 Colleen > I haven't tried that snackin jello yet, but I keep hearing a lot > about it.
