Indeed it is, . I have had my authentic cast iron aebelskiver from Germany years, and use it around the holidays. I have mastered gluten free aebelskiver, too! My first thought when I saw this gadget was adapting my recipes for it. From: <kareningotham@...>Subject: Re: Had to share-I WON a gadget!!! Date: Monday, April 11, 2011, 1:05 PM

Cool! It's kinda like an aebleskiver pan!

Franny, I think this would make a WONDERFUL gift for your daughter, and I have no doubt GF cakes would be great in it. I make GF doughnuts in a similar electric doughnut maker and they turn out great! I also have a mini electric pie maker, and it does great with gluten free too-can't see why this wouldn't. I think the BEST thing you can do for your little lady is encourage her baking with nifty gadgets that she can use herself. My daughter has been baking and cooking by my side since she was old enough to stand on a stool next to me, and at 16, she can cook as well as I can. Cooking, and especially baking, are such lost arts that I am all about encouraging it! I used to teach a group of girls how to cook with gadgets, and always made sure they each got a cool gadget to take home with them (I would buy up gadgets at yard

sales, thrift shops, flea markets, etc-sanitize them and give them to the child after teaching them how to use it) I often run into the girls I did this with, and they ALWAYS comment on what an impact it had-and most are still using their little gadgets to this day. I think every girl should be given a small crock pot too (red, of course) and her own set of wooden spoons, to learn to cook all sorts of things. My daughter learned how to make bread and cakes in a crock pot when she was about 6, and still does it to this day!

Lodge makes a nice one (here, I might add) although the aebleskiver are kinda big. There's also a nice one from Denmark that's titanium-plated; the problem is that I don't think I'd use one often enough to justify the purchase (free, however, is always welcome!).

Kmart had some "puff pancake" pans that were actually quite decent. Not called aebelskiver, but exactly the same thing. I bought one for my niece and she loves it-it makes 9 small ones-I think they were around 10 bucks on clearance.

They sort of remind me of a restaurant we have here that makes corn fritters.

Not at all healthy, but delicious. Sprinkled with powdered sugar. Congrats on

the win!

I bet a "baked" version of the fritters could be easily made in this-thanks for the idea (I am allergic to corn, but will "fritter" some of my sprouts! Let you know how it turns out! From: flnancy1958 <pravern@...>Subject: Re: Had to share-I WON a gadget!!! Date: Monday, April 11, 2011, 8:06 PM
