I went to the website and there is a stainless steel one and a plastic one, which do you have?

Does it fit in your fridge or does it sit out on the counter? If it sits out on your counter does it keep the water cold? It does not show how it works atleast the web site I went to does not.

I checked with hubby today and ours is the Big Berkey (which is

stainless steel). Would not fit in my fridge, too tall! If I wanted

cold, I would transfer the filtered water to either pitcher or

bottles, and put on a shelf in fridge. Then I would have room to

keep more water going. However, ours sits on a corner of the kitchen

counter which sometimes gets some morning sun. The water is quite

cool year around sitting there, but we do use AC in house during

summer. I think the stainless steel being shiny helps reflect the

sun away. The Big Berkey is a double cylinder sort of affair. The

larger cylinder has the spigot and sits on the counter. The other

cylinder has a tapered edge on the lower inch which fits inside the

lower one, to hold it in place. The upper one has a removable lid.

When you lift the lid, you see the two black filter cartridges. We

fill either with the hose spigot from faucet, or from a pitcher.

Ours holds 2.5 gallons. Plenty of drinking water for the 3 of us. We

do not use it for ice cubes, as our fridge has ice machine. Only

time we run short on water is if no one has filled top in a while

and husband decides to make 12 cups of coffee in his machine! I

don't drink coffee, but he likes to keep a insulated pitcher of hot

coffee next to the coffee maker, so he can just go fill his cup when

he wants. When he fills that big coffee maker, it takes our lower

chamber of filtered water down a bit. Just a matter of filling the

top and waiting a while.
