Guest guest
Hi All, I have requested an FBA for , as she has become less and less willing to do classroom work, and can basically just ignore the aide if she wants to (amongst other reasons). I want this done before the end of the year, as I'd like a plan in place before 4th grade begins next year. I was told that we need to have an IEP meeting for the team to sign off on this, and they asked today if it could be Thursday morning, since the school psychologist is only at our school site on Wed and Thu, making scheduling difficult. I am fine with them doing this quickly. Today, when I asked who would do the FBA, she said " the school psychologist. " I don't know why I was under the impression that someone from outside would observe and her teachers/aides/etc. and make the recommendations... am I totally nuts? Not that the psychologist isn't great, she's a wonderful, patient, talented, bright woman. But, she's sooooooooo overworked that it's not even funny, and her 2 days a week at our school are more like 40+ hours/week, and it's really wearing on her. She has been collecting data " unofficially " to try and see what makes tick (or not tick, as the case may be), so I don't want to offend her by requesting something she may be doing in part. I want to be able to explain exactly what I think an FBA consists of, and why that may or may not be different from making notes about what time arrived at school, how her morning went before math, etc. I know there are some behavioral analyasis experts out there, so if you could steer me in the right direction, I'd be grateful. Websites, personal experiences, all welcome. Thanks, , mom to (11), (9 DS), and Sammy (7)
