Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I am just completing Week 1 (my free day today and I am dying for a bagel!). Decided to take the advice of someone here and weigh myself this am figuring it woudl be the lightest I would be all week. Anyhow, the scale hasn't budged (though I *feel* lighter...could that be psychological?). I would have liked to see *something* for added motivation :-( Decided not to take measurements until after week 4 if I can hold out (figure if I do that too and see no change, I will be really upset :-(. Did anyone else experience this? I don't have a lot to lose (maybe 10lbs) so could that be part of it? How do you all keep up motivation when something like that happens? Thanks a bunch! BUT, I have gone down one pant size and can notice a difference between my first, fourth, and eighth week pictures. The scale is slightly useful but really should only be a small percentage on how you gage your progress. Guest guest
Hey Bec.Yup that happens that is why we are supposed to measure not just go by the scale. I am on week 4 as of today and have only lost 6 pounds but my clothes feel better. I know that a lot of women say that weeks 6 to 8 are huge for noticing success. Keep it up it will come off. Guest guest
You can't judge your results by the scale alone, especially when you're so near your goal. I think I lost 3 pounds on the scale my first 12 week challenge, but my body fat dropped from 20% to 15% and I lost 2 " off my waist, hips and each thigh. Looking at the photos, measurements, and body fat readings, I was one happy camper!! If I'd been judging my results by scale weight, I would have hung myself around week 7. :-) Here are those pics: http://skwigg.tripod.com/wow/id16.html The scale is not going to drop every week. You could actually GAIN weight, yet be getting smaller. If you're determined to check something every week, at least take measurements too. If the scale is up but the measurements are down, you know you're really kicking ass. Be sure to read this: Why the Scale Lies http://skwigg.tripod.com/wow/id12.html Hope that offers some perspective. Be patient. I didn't really register the changes until the 8th week. At some point that week, I caught a glimpse of my arms in a mirror and my jaw dropped. Who's arms are those!! How did they get on my body? ;-) Week 1, no change? Guest guest
Hi Bec. In my whole first challenge I only lost 9 lb total (but gained 2 lb muscle) but I went from a size 12 to a 6 and I look completely different. It's now been just over a month since I completed C1 and I've been " pretty much " sticking with BFL, just have been playing around a bit with the weights a bit more, and I've since lost 3 more pounds and my size 6s are getting noticeably loose on me (I'm starting back BFL style wholeheartedly Monday - just wanted to try my own thing weight-wise for a bit). I'm now to the point where the scale isn't going to move much more (I'm assuming....) and neither are the inches, but rather fat is being replaced by muscle - or at least that's how it is looking. My inches haven't moved much in a while either but my waist is at 26 so I don't expect it to go much less than that (even though there is still a layer of fat that I'm trying to get rid of still)... My thighs on the other hand could easily go down if they weren't so stubborn!! lol Anyway, my point is that sometimes you have to go by other methods for measuring - and the scale is particularly bad for measuring progress especially with doing weight training. Have you taken pictures before pictures? Those worked best for me - even when the scale wasn't budging and the inches didn't seem to be changing much the pictures told a whole different story. Keep up the good work and enjoy your free day! Kim Week 1, no change? Hi Everyone, I am just completing Week 1 (my free day today and I am dying for a bagel!). Guest guest
I member posted one day last week who lost 13 inches and only two pounds. It sounds like you're losing fat and gaining muscle. Everyone is different. As long as you're losing inches and you're clothes are getting loser, I wouldn't worry about scale weight.--- > In a message dated 9/8/02 5:55:15 AM Pacific Daylight Time, > rmardula@h... writes: > > > > > > Don't know it this will help or discourage but I am starting week nine and > have not lost 1 lb. but have lost 10 inches!!!!!!! so IMO Stay off the scale > > > Katey > > >
