Guest guest
The only really unpalatable batch I made was my "continuous brewing" experiment BUT I put it up in a few large Mason jars, kept it on the counter, and used it 300 ml at a time to add to new batches. In fact, I never completely used it up--I now add some KT to it every week so that I have some REALLY sour stuff to add to new batches. Call it sentiment. I had a few somewhat sour batches in the beginning and heeded Peggy's kind advice to dilute them with a bit of water, which worked fine. However, my current "week + a half-day" gives me consistently good results so that hasn't occurred in a long time. Re: OT KT stuff was Unusual uses for VM....was my first smoothie Oh Kim, Trust me - I know about nasty-tasting KT. Yuck to some of my brews. The ones that are simply way too sour, I either drink by heavily diluting with water or fruit juice, or it goes in my SCOBY hotel. I've got some great-looking SCOBYs in there! Did I mention that the KT I got when I did the cinnamon stick thing was like champagne or fine wine - even had the requisite "legs"! We're waiting to hear how your new batch turns out. I bet it'll be scrump-diddly-icious, or at least really good!

Guest guest
To get rid of any fruit flies I put some KT in a small bowl with just a drop of liquid dish soap. The soap reduces the surface tension of the KT and the flies sink and drown.I have a stand for my container so I just keep the little bowl under the stand.Kim in OR The only really unpalatable batch I made was my "continuous brewing" experiment BUT I put it up in a few large Mason jars, kept it on the counter, and used it 300 ml at a time to add to new batches. Guest guest
Good for you! Let's hope one gestates for you--check it in a week or so and don't forget that it'll expand to cover the surface of your KT brewing vessel. IOW, don't worry if it seems kinda small.
