Guest guest
Hello and happy holidays. I always learn a great deal from this group and want to thank so many people for taking the time to participate. I have a question regarding the Medicaid Direct Services Claiming program which reimburses school districts for IEP medical services that are provided to eligible students. Examples include speech therapy, assistance with daily living skills and behavioral support. In order for the district to participate they must get the consent of the parent. I received my request in the form of a Prior Written Notice. My concern is that the detail of services seems overreaching for what I believe the school is providing for my sons and there is some mention of seizure management and monitoring. Neither of my sons have seizures. Does anyone know anything about these forms or providing this permission? I don't mind if the school can collect money from the federal government for what they do. |But because they indicate that they are doing so much, I'm afraid that there may be negative consequences down the road if someone reads that paperwork and feels that my boys can't be in a regular classroom. I know that legally that is not a position that they can state, but I'm afraid it will give people who don't know my boys may read it and conclude that their needs can be better met in a self-contained setting. Any thoughts or experiences on this matter? Thank you for your time. Guest guest
It sure sounds like they're either padding their 'bill,' or are filling out the paperwork incorrectly by accident. But I would definitely follow up on it. We also have Medicaid and we keep a close eye on that stuff too. Eleanor Green A Question From in Arizona Hello and happy holidays.
