HI I am so sorry you had to experience this ordeal. My daughter Sara now 15 was dx with epilepsy at age 7. The first seizure she had was in my bed, I called her Pediatrician and he told me to take her the children's hospital ..........downtown Memphis. We lived east of Memphis and had a what seemed like a forever drive. I had to put Sara in her car seat and prayed all the way to the hospital that she wouldn't seize while I was driving ........... she didn't whewwwwwwwwwwww I had my Mom talk to me all the way to this hospital since she was a nurse and my support. The next time she seized was in a Krogers shopping cart, mind you Sara was really to old for this cart but she was exhausted that day and not feeling right. She went into a seizure and I couldn't get her out of the cart. An off duty cop was shopping and he helped me get her out and called an ambulance, she went unconscious this time. She must have seized 10 times while we were in the ER ............ this was the first time someone else witnessed the seizures. The next time when she seized she hit her head on the bathroom cabinets and again we were off to the hospital. She was transported to the children's hospital by ambulance and still talks about that ride. We stayed in the hospital 3 days that time with estimating 100 seizures ............. this was our last incident exactly 3 years ago (Dec 21st ............ I remember this because it was my moms bday), The Drs. took her off of meds a year ago. So far so good but they did warn me to keep her healthy and not to get my hopes up, her seizure disorder won't ever go away for good but I am happy she is off medicine for now as it had some horrible side effects. I've always told everyone the Down syndrome part of Sara I can easily handle the epilepsy scares the geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeebies out of me, Im so helpless and usually alone with her when it happens Kathy mom to Sara 15 ............. the list was and still is great support for me I'll never forget the compassion given when Sara was ill ¸...¸ ___/ /\ \___ ¸...¸ ,·´º o`·, /__/ _/\_ \__\ ,·´º o`·, ```)¨(´´´ | | | | | | | | | ```)¨(´´´ ¸,.-·²°´ ¸,.-·~·~·-.,¸ `°²·-.¸ As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Guest guest
Hi all, Yesterday had to be one the scariest days of my life. While on my way to take my daughter to school, was in his car seat and started to act like he was having a hard time breathing. I pulled the car over and his little head and arms were going crazy side to side. He then passed out. Shaking, and my daughter crying mommy I don't want him to die. I tried calmly telling my daughter he is not going to die. I took his meter out (he is diabetic ) to check his blood sugar. The meter read 67. He started to look up at me (still lathargic) I told my daughter give me your juice in your lunch. I started to squeez a little juice in his mouth. After about 15 minutes he started coming back. I rushed him to the hospital and he had had a diabetic seizure. I was shocked to learn this because his blood sugar was not that low. His blood sugar was fine when he woke up. I was later told that he must have gone very low and his hormones were trying to produce sugar. was diagnoised at 17 months with diabetes. He is now 4 and we have never had anything like this happen to him. He is fine now, but what a scare we had. My poor daughter was so upset. I called her at school to tell her he was fine. I have never seen a seziure before and hope I never do again. I hope everyone is doing well. I hope everyone has a very nice Holiday and a happy and healthy new year!!!
