Guest guest
Hi , For most execise videos you'll really need a good pair of crosstrainers. My personal favorites are Nike Max Air 61's, but be careful, they run small so you'd need a half size bigger than what you normally wear. They are cushy and comfy and provide some ankle support. Running shoes are made for forward to backward movement, cross trainers are for all four directions and have less tread so it's easier to pivot. You might want to pick up the Turbo Jam package from Beach Body to easy into kickboxing. There is a dvd that goes through all the 11 moves in great detail, and a basic workout that is sweat dripping intense, just not dancey fancy, that utlizes these basic moves. I like Tae Bo too, but it moves at speeds that are unsafe at times. doesn't mirror his cueing either, and often will work the left side and right side unequally. Turbo Jam is much more safe and professional in these regards. If you get Turbo Jam, please let us know what you think! --- Sprague <kittyn@...> wrote: --------------------------------- Ok feeling a total fool trying some of the moves in 's Bootcamp I have decided not to give up and to try try again. I was wondering if there are different styles to kickboxing (different ways of doing it)? And who is the best teacher (and the best dvd to learn these from)? I know part of my problems are tightness in the hip region and my floor is wood which is great for some things, but I often end up sliding (my shoes could be the problem I have running shoes because they were the only athletic shoes that fit me (wide short feet, no one makes athletic shoes for women who have fat feet the length of a child's foot) and they slide on my wood floors. Its great for dance aerobics though and it works well for yoga with a yoga mat, but I tend to slip during standing stretches and sometimes when I am trying to move fast:) The hip tightness I've been working on with yoga and I think I'm going to look for an area rug to deal with the other problem, but I think I really need better instructions. I was thinking of ordering the turbo jam because it looks like fun and it has an instructional tape. But I thought I'd ask here and see what everyone thought was a good tape for an intro to kickboxing. I'm not a beginner exerciser but I am a beginner to this type of exercise. I guess I need someone to slow down the moves and discuss proper placement of all body parts lol Also is there any other website than the beachbody site to buy their dvds from? Some of their workouts look really great but I'm not sure I want to spend $30+ on shipping. Sometimes I really hate living in Europe (actually its wonderful to have an active lifestyle here, just horrible to try and ship things here - all the women I know either work out at a gym or not at all:)
