Guest guest
Folks, We are getting geared up to start the IEP process for our daughter, , who's 11. She goes to middle school next year (6th grade). Tomorrow I'm taking her for a psych/education eval through a private office. I presume the psychologist will do the standard tests, but I wondered a couple of things: 1. Are there are tests we should for sure do or more importantly, not do? 2. Our county is just barely beginning to embrace the concept of inclusive education and we're nervous about middle school. Is there any advice for us as we go through this transition? Feel free to expound on anything you think we should think about, including, IEP goals/objectives, how to have a smooth transition, what pitfalls to look out for, etc????? You wouldn't think we'd be so nervous, but we are. Despite the fact we pulled on our armor and went into battle 5 years ago when transitioned to 1st grade (for those of you who don't know us at all we went through the dreaded DP - due process - and won), we are concerned for what lies ahead. The good news is our school system is putting " team teaching " into 5 schools next year and 's middle school is one of them. I don't think that's a coincidence. I know there are some of you who have very successfully transitioned your children through many milestones and I would very much appreciate your wisdom. Thank you in advance, Eleanor Green
