I added a picture of holding Hayley on the main page of

Upsndowns here at groups. Thanks for all the congrats....mom

and baby are still in the hospital. Hayley has Strep B:(

Also, had Hayley on Thursday and her milk still has not come

in. The hospital provided her a breast pump - nothing! Anyone else

have this problem? also had a uterine infection and now is

breaking out on her body (which she said is painful).

did wonderful up until today. He was definately in his

Chucky mood!! We spent just a short time at the hospital today b/c

of his behaviors. A young mom at Walmart waved me over to talk with

her (while was imitiating Chucky) - she just had a baby with

DS and needed support. I felt bad for her - first to see at

his worse and second, b/c I really could not spend time talking with

her. I did give her my business card and wrote my private email

address on the back. She did place her baby for adoption and the

adoption is open. I warned her as I gave out my card that I was also

an adoption social worker - not really ironic, but I believe

sometimes God puts people in places at just the right time. I just

don't know why couldn't be at peace those few minutes. Oh

well.... I briefly told her about Upsndowns and told her I could

find a birth mom for her to talk to.

Normally my milk came in on day 3 with my kids, but my milk with my last

baby didn't come in until late on the 4th day. It was VERY sudden (within a

few hours) and I was sooooooo engorged. Hopefully her milk will come in

tonight or in the morning. Do they have a lactation consultant she can talk

to???

With all three boys, I was never able to pump more than an ounce at a time. The

two younger boys both for the most part exclusively breast fed (only had an

occasional bottle of formula due to the pumping problems) and gained. I always

fretted about my supply (partly because I'd hear all these women talk about

getting engorged and the only time that happened for me is if I went 8 or more

hours without breast feeding). Anyway, long story short, the boys evidently

were getting what they needed and I only seemed to produce on demand (theirs not

a machine's).

I had to use the pump exclusively after was born and found the if I

used the hospital grade electric pumps every three hours that during the

colostrum phase I got maybe a couple oz every 9 hours... I can not remember

exactly what day I switched over but remember one day of yellowish colostrum

and the next day the whiteish blue color of milk... Hopefully they gave her

an electric pump because the hand helds I got at first were crap.. The

lacatation consultative went and got an electric pump that stayed with me

the whole time I was there
