Guest guest
Hi. Took Hannah to the orthopedic doctor today. Waited an hour to be told in 2 minutes that she has Down Syndrome, might grow out of it, success of surgery is only 50/50 and he's done 2 (count 'em 2) surgeries on kids with Downs. Just wait and see. Oh, and he never heard of it hurting when the hip totally dislocates before, am I sure that she is crying in pain? (HellllloooooooOOOO?) My Vent? Why do these " specialists " feel the need to punctuate sentences with GET USED TO IT - IT'S DOWN SYNDROME. ?? Will be writing a note to Dr. Len with the specifics of the appointment- if only to get a response that doesn't start with... By the way, your kid has Downs... Guest guest
how frustrating having someone discount a child's needs out of ignorance. Do you have a ds clinic nearby that could recommend someone? Karyn
Guest guest
Hi Connie - wow, I hope this orthopedic doctor doesn't specialize in peds! There is a Dr. at the Klingberg Center at WVU who is a good pediatric ortho. He's been around for years (he just saw my nephew this summer and I had clients who saw him when I did EI years ago). town is just a hop skip and jump from you. You may also want to email Bill Cohen from the Pittsburgh DS clinic and see who he'd recommend. Len should have his email address if you can't find it through google. Keep me posted and hugs to Hannah! Small Vent/Hip > Hi. Took Hannah to the orthopedic doctor today.
