Guest guest
>>>>>I have not posted in a long time, as we have not had many issues to deal with, and have worked out old issues! My son is 28 months old, he's been walking since 19 mos. and can say 10 to 15 words, and is very social (he can sign " more, " but shows little interest in learning baby signs). He has been in an early Headstart program since 18 mos. (He will go into a Montessori toddler program in July.) He does very well in school, but in the past few months has regressed at home. >>>>> , I wouldn't panic. I would ask for that move in with the bigger kids and make sure that everyone while addressing the inappropriate behavior consistently they are giving him even more positive structure and positive feedback. Personally, I think with toddlers that when they are learning to be more independent that their behavior sometimes takes a nose dive. Good luck and keep at it. Guest guest
, It sounds like he is hitting a typical 2 year old stage. Before 2 kiddos see themselves as extensions of us. Once they discover their own identity and realize that they do have a voice, they use it. And some of them REALLY use it. I am the mom of 4 spirited daughters. I kept thinking I would get one shy, compliant child, but my friends all laughed at me, as they are MY children after all. Anyhow, just when you think you will lose your mind, it seems they do turn themselves around. It sounds like you have a very bright boy on your hands. I would try using a positive behavior system to reward the behaviors that you do want. So if he is chewing on the book you would say, " You can earn a sticker if you can stop yourself from chewing on that book, would you like a cracker/chew tube/etc instead? " And when he complies give him a sticker. After 10 stickers he then would get to choose a reward from a box of prizes. Something along those lines has worked well with my kids. Good luck! I think he sounds so very smart and typical!
