Guest guest
If you can believe it Micah got a new teacher today and she seems very sweet but after speaking with her today just as we were about to hang up she told me she is seeing Micah from 9;:30 to 11:00 every morning. Then said I will get in touch with you to get together in a few weeks. (I had sent a note in this morning with Micah's profile and the wish to meet her). Long story short. They changed one teacher for another and are STILL only giving Micah and hour and a half of his services. He is suppose to get two hours. As it was I had decided to compromise and take the two hours in the morning and see how it went. Remember I was suppose to get and hour in morning and an hour in afternoon. But I just can't believe they woud be bold enough to pull this. When I spoke with head of SPED on Friday she said Micah would be getting his two hours starting today. Now I know I am not a rocket scientist but 9:30 to 11:00 AM does not two hours make. Did someone change the math rule???? So anyway now I have to get aggravated al over again. I am going to sit and write a letter and send it to everyone (up the chain of command) but now I am going to have to go to dept of ed. this is just ridiculous. You truly cannot make this stuff up. If anyone was told that theire typical children's classroom would only get 5 out of their six hours there would be a lynch mob. I am so tired of our kids being second rate citizens. Guest guest
I hope that your letter lights a fire under someone to fix the problem..... no, the math rules haven't changed, 1.5 does NOT equal 2 (maybe they are practicing rounding up to the next whole number?????) I guess if you don't get an immediate response from the dept of ed, you could file a compliance complaint as well..... I think someone has to act on those. I have pretty lax about knowing if they were actually doing what the IEP said for , since it seemed like she was getting what she was supposed to. But, I guess I need to more vigilent. Today in a brief conversation with the RSP, I found out that Friday's schedule for going to Resource is " short " because we have short days every Friday (8-12:40 as opposed to the regular 8-2:20). I need to find out if " short " means 5 minutes less because lunch starts ealier, or if " short " means she comes in for 10 minutes and leaves....... receives 1 hour per day, and I know that she goes 10:45-11:45 on M-Th (check, 1 hour :-), so they are not making up time on the other days.....I'm interested to see what is happening on Friday's. I agree, if the typical kids days were shortened " just because " , it would be hitting the 5 o'clock news the same day! , mom to (10), (8 DS), and Sammy (7) Loree5@... wrote: > If you can believe it Micah got a new teacher today and she seems very > sweet > but after speaking with her today just as we were about to hang up she > told > me she is seeing Micah from 9;:30 to 11:00 every morning. I know again lol I met with Sara's, LA Sped teacher to write LA goals for her annual IEP Wednesday and it came up in conversation that Sara was being pulled out of Social Studies when the Reg Ed teacher started lecture type teaching. My eye brows raised and I started questioning her on how often a week, if this is the same practice for Science too blah blah blah. I think she picked up on my unhappiness and asked if this was a problem. I said well YES this practice has now made Sara a visitor in her Reg Ed classes. I went over the current goals we have for Reg Ed and how carefully we placed safeguards to keep Sara in the class. I asked her who makes the decisions for Sara to exit and she said her paraprofessional does. I could tell from her that she wasn't to happy with this either and she promised to be more involved in Sara's Reg Ed time. She is now aware of how I feel and I will make sure this gets addressed at Sara IEP meeting next week. This system I am in is based on inclusion, they have the desire and the heart for it but I see now they don't know how to do it, how to problem solve wh en a teaching method is not appropriate for Sara. We will spend a lot of time discussing this I have another conference Wednesday to finalize the objectives and I think we will schedule the IEP meeting for next Friday ............. Ill keep you all posted lol Im in IEP mode now Kathy mom to Sara 14 ¸...¸ ___/ /\ \___ ¸...¸ ,·´º o`·, /__/ _/\_ \__\ ,·´º o`·, ```)¨(´´´ | | | | | | | | | ```)¨(´´´ ¸,.-·²°´ ¸,.-·~·~·-.,¸ `°²·-.¸ As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
