OT Bread machine & measurements (was Re: OT: I am officially hooked and need some advice) Hi Barb and Davinna, The Vitamix Whole Grains cookbook (a 51-page booklet really) gives the measurement you're asking about. One cup of whole kernel wheat ground for 1 1/2-2 minutes on high gives an approximate flour yield of 1 1/2 cups of very fine flour. Other yields are: 1/4 c = 1/3 c (2 mins on high yields slightly coarse flour) 1/2 c = 3/4 c (2 mins on high yields fine flour) These are all blended on high for 1 1/2 minutes and yield very fine flour: 1 1/4 c kernels = 1 3/4 c flour 1 1/2 c kernels = 2 1/4 c flour 1 3/4 c kernels = 2 1/2 c flour 2 c kernels = 2 3/4 c flour You may still be able to purchase this little booklet from Vitamix. Even if you never make a recipe from it, it has lots of great information and trouble-shooting suggestions. Also shows how to use whole grains in making cereals. Mine says the USA cost is $6.00, but I've had it a long time. Price has probably increased. HTH! Peggy ps... when making bread, remember the 1:3 rule (suggestion?): 1 part other grains to 3 parts wheat flour
