Not only is the warranty inferior to the 5000 line's (although it's very good for a commercial product that's expected to take a beating), but the included support material is written for food pros who are cooking for large groups and who already know their way around a commercial kitchen station; the included recipes/techniques reflect this. There's also no BPA-free container for the Prep (doesn't stand up to commercial use), NO phone support, but most importantly, the machines perform the same: same controls, same RPM at both ends. The extra horsepower is to ensure that the Prep, which might be called upon to run almost non-stop, runs cool enough so that the overload protector isn't tripped (which can result in costly delays of up to 40 minutes). It bears repeating (again) that although Vitamix employees are eligible to purchase the Prep on their employee discount, NONE of them do.DON'T BUY A PREP.I provided all of this information to give you an idea of just how versatile the Vitamix machine is, and how it is So Much More than "just" a blender. Guest guest
I have also been using my VM to make nut-butters....far superior to those purchased in the grocery stores and much better too. I love using salted, dry roasted peanuts as well as honey roasted peanuts to make my peanut butter My family is hooked on green smoothies (disguised as a delicious fruit smoothie) every morning for breakfast! I personally love the fact that I am starting my day with healthy veggies like spinach, carrots, cabbage, squash, etc. ~DavinnaOn Tue, Mar 22, 2011 at 8:35 AM, Lea Ann Savage <lsavage@...> wrote: We've recently had quite a few New Members join our list...
