Well Vicki has like 2.5 days left and we managed to get the IEP done also on

Friday... After giving me some negative feedback about repeating Kindy earlier

this year, they reversed course and already put it into the IEP... Actually I

got the Draft IEP several days earlier and I was able to make notes, share it

with the advocate and go in with a fuller plan and rebuts to some of the goals

and included several next step goals... actually worked out quite well..... they

asked if I liked getting it early and I told them I did cause they remember that

last year I told them that I did not like it read to me, that I felt put down

like I was unable to understand the written word..... apparently they took that

seriously

I did notice that this school district is one that wants to just make the IEP

goals ones that they are super confident that they can make... I pushed them to

include more slightly higher level ones and got it.... especially since in

everything but the toileting ones she pretty much surpassed... they go " are you

comfortable in possibly not making every goal? " .... I said as long as

it has been worked on and she has made some progress I would be happy.... also I

pointed out that not all typical kids meet each and every goal set up for the

kindy class for example and why should Vicki be any different in that

respect.... that got the advocate to smile... she got an additional pullout for

a math related program.... her pullouts will be approximately 1 hour a day and

it still falls in the less then 21% outside the reg class room..... this will

not only be reinforcing the math and strengthening the language component which

is her greatest delay...

So far she can read almost 20 words reliably, a few more with so so results.....

she can spell her full first name and writes it though without lines

and turn into the full 8.5 by 11 inch page on its side and over three lines but

she knows what she is doing.... she can count to 20 reliably and sometimes can

get to 30.... she is getting her touch counting down and is able to extend a

simple pattern.. she can identify several coins by name and is starting to play

couputer games at home......

and guess what.... one of the little girls asked for victoria's phone number so

that she can invite Vickie over for a play date.... already talked to her mom

and grandmom... who both say Aubrey talks about Vickie all the time and

apparently is one of her best friends.....

And the adovate asked me to be a part time paid parental advocate..... they get

overloaded during IEP time and need someone to do the preplanning meetings and

thought I would be perfect... can you tell I am so flattered... I could not have

done it without all of you here to guide me along....

well that is long enough for now.... hope all of your IEPs and school years have

gone well....
