Peaches are like that. A medium peach only has 42 cals and 10g of carbs. I

always eat two of them. It seems like you can eat raspberries by the bucket too.

:-)

strawberries

Holy Cow! I just looked in my food count book and found out one

pint of strawberries has 22 carbs! I only ate 6.....Yippee! I get

to eat some more! :) (It seems like a total comercial....You will

have to eat 1 PINT of strawberries to equal the same carb. content

of only one wallpaper-tasting bowl of Total!)

This morning I picked quite a few strawberries at a pick your own place. I plan on cleaning and freezing them unless anyone has any better ideas. They will go in future smoothies. Thanks in advance.

Do you normally eat them?

Strawberries

It is too late now but maybe an answer for next time. If I am using strawberries in a smoothie, is it necessary to take off the leafy tops?

I live in Florida, directly across from the Kennedy Space Center and

approximately an hour east of Orlando. I do have to admit that the weather is

great most of the time, except for those occassional tropical storms and

hurricanes. No matter what part of the country you live in, we are all facing

occasional freak weather patterns these days. Our winters are getting colder

with more plants and bushes dying that never had any problems before.

It's usually not my practice to Vitablend stuff I wouldn't eat otherwise (except, maybe, pineapple cores), e.g., certain fruit rinds/peel, bitter seeds, egg and seed shells, etc. I do, however, shell apricot pits when I prepare the food for freezing and then insert them back in the fruit--gives a nice, subtly bitter almond flavor with natural laetrile. It works for me but everyone's different.

Now that I think of it, I don't use the stem in strawberries, either.

Sandy where do you live, I am still a foot under snow too. And just a few days ago got a foot more. But the day we got the foot of snow I dared not complain because it was when poor Japan had its devastation.

I don't - I wash them well and use them tops and all (in smoothies). If the strawberries start to go bad (which they usually do within 24 hours of washing them) I put them in the freezer for smoothies tops and all!

In my demos I say they are like "little salads" on top of your strawberries! The leaves taste fine - it is just not something people think to do. Most people don't eat dandelion greens, but they are very edible and nutritious!

I have seen in more than one video that you can leave the green tops in a smoothie.

Thanks, will know for next time. However, cleaning forced me to double check

for any soft ones. Ate those immediately!

Hi Barb,

There are two types of strawberries--June-bearing and Ever-bearing. Many places

will have both, the June bearing plants to a huge crop in the spring (June) and

then its over. The Ever-bearing ones will have a crop early then late an some

varieties will produce all season.

You may also try farther north, there are several berry farms north of the metro

(toward Duluth as well as St. Cloud) that are about a week behind the south

metro.

The MN Grown website has a search engine to find berry farms too.
