Guest guest
i really love the grow boxes.....but i am troubled by all the plastic, especially since i try to grow as organic as possible..... i'm hoping the gas outsourcing from the plastic would be taken care of by soil microbes and not taken into the plants themselves.....can anyone confirm that? i also buy organic soil as well as organic plants. i buy organic at the farmers market but admit that these grow boxes are a vast inprovement over modern industrial farm practices and i still might give it a go despite my concerns re the plastic. and given all the posts here i've been purging plastic containers from the house and even started using canning jars to send lunch with hubby. perhaps it is this urge to purge plastic that has me concerned re plastic grow boxes despite the fact that i've used plastic pots to grow tomatoes in the past. ammello > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Â > > > > > > > > > > Then I will change my name to Aardvark! Guest guest
I am OBSESSIVE about organics, and I typically shun all plastic, but when researching this very matter years back, I found that the boxes are made from the same material as Earth Boxes, which are approved for food use. Prior to that, I was using all sorts of "no-no's", including tires, kiddie pools, etc. I have since eliminated all of those things that DO leach plastic, but I wouldn't hesitate to use the grow boxes. I use smaller versions now for my hydroponics, but they aren't exposed to sun or heat, so no leaching there, but I feel the grow boxes Lea Ann has would be relatively safe-as safe as store bought grow boxes, anyway. Guest guest
Glad to hear this because I had the same concerns AFTER someone brought it up to me - my feeble mind didn't even think about it prior… ;-) Blessings,Lea Ann SavageSatellite Beach, FL(321) 773-7088 (home)(321-961-9219 (cell)))><'>www.VitamixLady.comwww..com<))>< On Mar 22, 2011, at 1:04 PM, Berry wrote: I am OBSESSIVE about organics, and I typically shun all plastic, but when researching this very matter years back, I found that the boxes are made from the same material as Earth Boxes, which are approved for food use.
