To be honest, I thought the same thing but then thought "that's not like ". Then I thought back over the last few posts I had read and remembered that had just posted a similar response to Davinna's and realized she was speaking about herself.

Hey there - you might want to clarify this - it appears that you are chastising Davinna for failure to read previous posts before replying. I know that can't be what you meant, but that is what it looks like to me and Davinna seems so eager and happy to post, I'd hate for her to interpret this wrong and stop posting…

the typed word can be so hard to show intent :-)

Re: "Nutty Butter" - was - Welcome New Members!

The only thing that I can think of that would make the store bought natural peanut butter more oily than your home-made natural peanut butter is that the store bought has had a few more days/weeks/months to sit on the shelf or even in the jar than your home-made does, thus allowing the oils to separate more than your home-made has time to do. I know with my family, we are eating it with a few days or a week at most so, even though the oils separate some and rise to the surface, it still does not have the amount of time to do so as your store bought variety does. Does this make sense to anyone else?~Davinna

I'm also loving the ease and convenience of making peanut butter in my Vitamix. A question though - my husband and I were talking this morning... we've been using natural peanut butter for several years, and it is quite a bit more oily than the peanut butter that I am making in my Vitamix. When I look on the jar of the store bought peanut butter, the only ingredients are peanuts and salt. So why is it so much more oily?

I'm also quite gratified by my children asking for smoothies every single day. :D Right now, my son is HOOKED on "banana milkshakes" (simply frozen banana chunks, 1% milk, a splash of vanilla, and a date). How can I deny him THAT? lol. He says it tastes as good as any "real milkshake" he has ever had.

Ooh, that would account for a hard-working Vitamix's getting hotter than it should.

Re: "Nutty Butter" - was - Welcome New

Members!

Help please! :-)

I am having a horrible time trying to make peanut butter with my VM! I am

using roasted peanuts, it whirs around then creates a giant air bubble, I

tamp it down as much as I can, but it never gets all incorporated. I try to

do 2 cups of nuts at a time. I let the VM go for about 10 min, but after

that time, there is such a "burning" smell, I get scared and turn it off. I

get nothing like peanut butter, it is a grainy, dry mess! I have tried

adding oil, but still it doesn't get creamy, or all incorporated...what am I

doing wrong?? My VM is a super 5000.

Thanks for your help!

Speaking of all those Norwalks, the wife of the former president of the company (his sister is now running things) told me when I bought mine two years ago that one of her sons-in-law used her Norwalk to make something along the lines of Dean's Nutty Butter with all almond M & M's. The verdict: messy but yummy.
