This just in...

Since several members are interested in tea, this is about as good as it gets for Chinese tea. Make sure to join the tea club if you think you'll be ordering anything.

Seven Cups Newsletter: March 2011

Seven Cups Newsletter - March 2011 This could be you if you were going on our Yunnan tour.

Dear Seven Cups Tea Club Members, Spring is upon us here in Tucson, but in China it is still very cold. The winter there is threating to be as bad as last year, and ending in a late spring. That will mean the tea that we do get will be in short supply, and the tea that does come from it will be very rich. Tea comes from an evergreen plant that concentrates nutrition when it is stressed, in this case by cold. I can't predict what will happen to prices, since similar conditions existed last year. Last year there was a false spring that was followed by another cold snap; if that doesn't happens this year, the crops will be in better shape. I am hoping that some places like Chaozhou Dan Chong Wulongs will not be as damaged as last year, so that prices will return to a reasonable range for the higher end tea. We didn't purchase any last year because the prices were just too high.

I'm getting ready to head out to China in the next couple of weeks, followed closely thereafter by Zhuping and n. n will stay with his grandparents while we lead the tours. I'm really starting to get excited because I can just do the photography and have fun. Hopefully I can find some time to write some blogs while we are going along. Certainly the next couple of newsletters I will have to write from China.

2011 Tea Tours There is still space on the Yunnan tour. There will be some changes to the itererary. We are figuring out how we can spend more time up in the mountains and less time driving. We should have those changes online next week sometime. Yunnan is really a cultural feast, and it has the most expansive biodiversity of anywhere on the planet. If you scroll to the bottom of the Puer Tour page you will find a couple of hundred photos that I took with the first group I took to Yunnan in 2007. You can also see more on Flickr. Expect more soon. Check out the itereraries by clicking here.

Zhuping's Specials We have all of our very best green teas on sale this month. In China there is a group of tea called the 'Ten Famous Teas'. Six of those teas are green teas. If you haven't tried any of these teas, or you normally don't like green tea, try these out. They are great teas. Click here to see all the featured specials!

Facebook and Twitter Like us on Facebook. Please remember us on Twitter @sevencups. Check out our photos on Flickr.

Seven Cups Staff We want to welcome Zoll to our staff. He is a music student at the U of A, and has been a student of Zhuping's for many years.

Best wishes from all of us at Seven Cups/Green Dragon Enterprises: Austin, Zhuping, , Josh & n (our kids), , , , Mikel, Marina, Cora and Tim (in Tucson) Greg, , , Kimberley, and Wang Lei (in Denver) and Leo and Xiao Tang (in China), and (in Taiwan).

Happy New Year!

Austin
