SPED teacher calls me to tell me that Micah is not getting his two hours of SPED push in a day. They have her jumping from school to school and she is swamped. The director of SPED made HER call me because we have a GREAT rapport. She is as frustrated by this as I am. Also he is suppose to be getting an hour in the morning and an hour afternoon. They are bombarding him with all in the morning (when she is there) It is way to much for him to be handling at one time. They also wanted to take him out of morning specials , I said " NO! " I called SPED director on Wed. last and had a long talk. Said I don't see why they don';t put him in with the otther child in our school and put a full time SPED teacher in there (inclusion classroom). She said well other student is in 1st grade and Micah is in kindy. I said if you make an inclusion classroom I will allow you to move him up to the first grade. (Big deal he will still be working on the same goals and be back with the kids he started school with last year!!) She said " great idea I will get back to you on Friday after I move other teachers around for the kids in the other school " I was happy dancing myself silly until I talked to Micah's SPED teacher. " She said if you have accomplished this then my hat is off to you because I have been at them all summer to DO something " " In other words, I say, she is sweet talking me. " Said teacher " I would like to think not but am not to positive about this " Needless to say I have not heard from SPED director. Tried calling this morning and can't get her. They have known since June what he needed. Where do I go from here. How much time do they get to correct this. Is this not a violation of his rights to an education? ANYONE??? Loree

Since you have a signed IEP which they areNOT implementing, you can go the easiest route by filing a complaint to your state. What state are you in? I am in New York. She is suppose to call me back today, we will see. I can't believe I have to go through this stuff. His teacher is very frustrated also.
