Guest guest
Hi there, I've been in business only a short time(5 months), selling to friends and family. I've come to the point where I would like to start wholesaling my products and I have some questions for those who are doing this. What is the average time between taking the order and delivery? When opening a new account, with let's say a small gift store, what is the average quantity ordered? Are there any good books or websites that could help me with going wholesale? I really need to get educated on this before I start doing it. And last but not least, how do you get over the fear of going from a safe group of people to the big world out there? Any advise would be very much appreciated. Thanks so much, The Earth Bodycare " Step into The Earth and feel out of this world. "
Guest guest
Hi Tracey, I've been selling wholesale for a year now and personally enjoy it much more than selling retail. To answer some of your questions: The time between taking the order and delivery is really up to you and your capabilities, but the sooner the better. It's good to always have some products stocked up in advance. Sometimes it's good not to offer all of your products to stores (if you make alot of different things), as this will make it harder for you to always have stock available in everything. The quantity ordered depends on the size of the store usually. Most times manufacturers will set a minimum order amount, to make it worth their while to sell at wholesale prices. Keep in mind that most stores will want to double the price you are charging them, so you have to balance that with what people will actually pay for the product once it is in a store. My orders have ranged from $100 - $1,000. I'm not sure where you are located, but if you are in Canada, I do have a place you could contact for more information on wholesaling. If you are in the States, you may want to do some research on the wholesale shows near you, and see if you can get some information from the companies that put on those shows. Hope I've helped at bit! Good luck! Sparks Hi there, I've been in business only a short time(5 months), selling to friends and family.
