Guest guest
Hi All: Well, one of the advantages of insomnia is that you are awake so early you end up with lots of free time. So far I have occupied my sleepless 5:00am early mornings with house cleaning, internet and TV. Today I decided I need to try to do at least a bit of exercise. Just at least start something!! So I walked for 10 minutes on the treadmill, then did the 10 minute lower body and 10 minute upper body segments from Quick Fix Stability Ball Workout. They are short but about all I could have handled right now. Right now I have been feeling sort of tired, weak and a bit nauseous in the mornings and unfortunately would say I feel a bit worse now after exercising. I hope a feeling of satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment will overwhelm those yucky feelings soon.HAHA! Treadmill Questions: We have had this treadmill for awhile but as I have mentioned before motivation is a real problem for me so it hasn't really gotten much use. Today after I got off I felt a bit wonky, not quite dizzy but a little off. I have felt this before so it is not just due to my sleep-deprived anxiety-heightened state. Anyone else experience that when using a treadmill, does it go away with prolonged use? I decided to get the treadmill thinking it might get me exercising more since I could look after the kids, watch TV and W/O at the same time. Multi-tasking! However, I have only used it a few times and so far don't enjoy it that much. I would have loved to walk outside as the weather is just gorgeous here right now, cool at night and mid 20s during the day. Ooops....for you Americans I think that translates to high 70s. Hubby has gone to work though and kids are still sleeping so I can't take a neighbourhood tour. >>Donna wrote: Also, as an aside, Ilove the Canadian accent.<< That is so funny Donna cause you know we don't have the accent, you do. HAHA!! Thanks to all those who wrote in with meditation suggestions. I was all set to place a big order from Amazon then decided to check the on-line with my local library. Well, they have quite a few resources, lots of Jon Kabat-Zinn. I reserved a number of different things so I can see if I like them for free. I really hope I can make some changes to my lifestyle. I heard somewhere " The definition of insanity (or stupidity, I can't remember which) is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result " . You can apply that to anything but in my situation if I continue, eat poorly, not exercise and get over-stressed then I am crazy if I expect to feel anything other than crappy! Today after I got off I felt a bit wonky, not quite dizzy >but a little off. did you take the time to slow down gradually? if you were going at a good speed and then just stopped and jumped off then yeah, im sure you would feel kind of weird. next time try an interval of walking at a slower pace for a few minutes before getting off. your body needs the time to cool-down and adjust. >I decided to get the >treadmill thinking it might get me exercising more since I could look after >the kids, watch TV and W/O at the same time. However, I have >only used it a few times and so far don't enjoy it that much. i find that music is a better accompaniment to working out than the tv. to keep it even more interesting you can listen to music that gets faster and then slower and then faster again. do you happen to have an mp3 or cd player? if so, then there is a guy called sean o'malley who does guided cardio workouts for treadmills, ellipticals, etc. he is giving away one of his audio workouts for free, all you have to do is download it. he is apparently really good for motivation as he talks to you throughout the workout. i dont suppose that it would be easy to look after the kids while wearing headphones though. i tell my kids that they can interrupt my workout if they want but usually when they do, it isnt anything important and i end up asking them to wait until im finished. >I would have loved to walk outside as the weather is just gorgeous here >right now, cool at night and mid 20s during the day. LOL. yeah, i dont even know what a canadian accent sounds like. >Thanks to all those who wrote in with meditation suggestions.
