To briefly explain TouchMath, in case no one has heard of it, it's a

multi-sensory approach to math. Each letter is assigned " touch points " that

equal the number or half the number. Like I said, it comes highly

recommended by 's teacher. He wishes he had the budget to buy this

program for his kids (apparently the funds allotted to him are extremely

small - he still has the Edmark Reading program from the 70's instead of the

newer updated one, and is the same one I got for for $25 used - another

program over $400).

But anyway, I should get it in about 4-6 days....I'll let everyone know how

it goes.

Loriann,

My foster son hasn't quite mastered the counting to 20 at 11 years old and

his special ed teacher is starting touch math with him this year. I figure

that I'll give them until Christmas and then we will start working on it at

home also.

Guys,

Let me ask you a question. In Middle School I was told they can't just start a

new classroom and teach TouchMath for my child. TouchMath is not something I

have ever been able to get the school to use with and many of your kids

use it and it works well. Middle School doesn't and self-contained teacher said

he would but they're making worksheets and dotting numbers and the aide (not the

teacher) is teaching . The aide teaches him Reading in this classroom

also. They haven't got a classroom that uses the Reading Program he had in

elementary and they've got a remedial program by same company that they've

brought out and dusted off.

dangerous than sincere ignorance

and conscientious stupidity.
